Happens to us all the time. Nothing ever happens other than a 4 game suspension if that.

Please tell me the last time a Penguins player took a malicious hit to the head from a stick that resulted in an injury? The last time a penguins player got injured from a malicous stick attack was Mario from Adam Graves. The problem with *most* not all but most Penguins fans is that noone even has any idea what im talking about. I have a ton of respect for the long time penguins fan base that stuck through the years of kevin constantine and alexei morozov, but it seems the vocal ones are the ones who didnt know the NHL existed until 87's first MVP. Again not a knock on all penguins fans but its tough to digest.

UMMM ... I didn't say stick to the head. A stick to the back of the knees. Unless someone's brain is there, no one is turning into a vegetable. Not rocket science.

Never said you did. I was talking about what one of the other posters wanted done to him.

I was waiting for someone to jump him, 2 hand him right to the jaw I don't care.

I learned early on when I was playing semi-pro that if you really feel a need to fight a guy, don't give him a chance to say no. Drop your gloves and grab him. If it's REALLY that important to make him "answer" then do it. Give him a chance to get his gloves off, and then lay into him no matter what he does.
- jmatchett383

Just like Voracek, although he retaliated on a perfectly clean hit against the ancient Scuderi who has never fought before. Problem is we have no one who will do that.

I thought that was a totally uncalled for fight. It was a perfectly clean hit executed to perfection. No need to fight after a clean (but hard) hit.

Last night at the game I heard a guy in a throwback Francis jersey say " look that sandwich is called the Ole twenty niner, that must be for MAF" I wanted to stab him.

how are you inferring that *most* posters here are all bandwagon fans exactly?

I dont want to start another argument but in regards to the Voracek thing....1. it didnt matter who the player was that hit him, he felt it was low so he made them answer for it. 2. Voracek now has 2 career fights lets not make him out to be Bob Probert and 3. when voracek did that you were going off about how he should have been tossed and how dirty it was of him to drop the gloves immediately and now you are calling for the penguins to do the same. I understand the frustration but pick a side and stick to it.

I get what you're saying. It's not just a stick to the head, it's literally everything else that happens to our guys that goes unpunished every time. When we finally do something of that matter, like Neal, we are suddenly the dirtiest team in the NHL and every player needs to be suspended.

Well, when your owner comes out and talks about getting plays like that out of the game, it puts you under a microscope.

I wasnt inferring that at all and if it came off that way I need to correct myself. I dont know a single person on here dont know how old they are how long they have been fans none of that. I actually am way off topic and brought up a pet peeve of mine that has no place for discussion on this board. I enjoy this board to be honest with you because most of the people on here have educated opinions regardless if i agree with them or not.

Not how I took it at all, but I can see that. I thought he was talking about the entire fanbase/media who speak out constantly.

So, as a Penguins fan, the fanbase that despises dirty play and "goon" hockey, you are hoping that a player uses a hockey stick to severely injure the head of a human being?
- jmatchett383

It's been constant for years which is why players like Matt Cooke and Steve downie are fan favorites and why lemieux is a hypocrite. They all complain about anything happening to a penguin and immediately go for the nuclear reaction.

With Ovi, it's different. He is a wreckless player and you can't disagree. Voracek should have been tossed, just as Downie should have been if he would have done the same thing to Ovi. It doesn't change my view on it at all. It would be dirty and it warrants the toss and I would be completely fine with it. Instead, Downie got tossed because he barely hit some guys jaw and he crumpled like paper.

To be fair and i am just as guilty, most of us do that with our team. Its tough to take a stance against your own team or to be humble after a cheap shot to one of your team's players.

What would you like them to do? Suspend Ovechkin for 90 games for a slash that went uncalled?

The thing is this happens to ALL teams and ALL star players. The reaction is how games are won and lost. You want to retaliate against Jack freaking Hillen right in front of the ref or take a meaningless slashing penalty and break someone's stick right in from of the ref these are the results youre going to get. ALL teams deal with this not just the pens BUT the Pens reactions to these dirty plays is what's killing them. Has Downie and Lapierre helped the outcomes?

and Neal is gone. Pretty certain if he didn't do the dumb stuff on the ice, he would still be a Penguin. I mean 30-goal scorers like him don't grow on trees.
