Only ones I would look at are Sharp or Yak - VANTEL
Pretty much yeah. I could see Hodgsen making it through waivers. |

With proper development I think Yak is going to be great. |

I totally agree. He isn't getting what he needs in Edmonton that is for sure. Eakins never used him properly nor does Todd Nelson. Sad state in Edmonton. |

A few other top 6 forwards that may be a cheap acquisition are Yaakipov Sharp , Lupul Gaborik, Hodgson - VANTEL
Neither Yak or Sharp are going to be cheap but they might very well be available. Chicago will be in a bind with the cap this off season but no way they will sell off Sharp at a discount before the summer when they are still considered one of the favorites for the cup.
As polarizing as Yak is in Edm, I think he still has quite a bit of value, maybe not as much value as Kane had ( 1st and 2 good prospects) but still wouldn't be a cheap pick up IMO. |

Our development system was pretty much the direct opposite of Edmonton's...both have not had good results of late
Gillis: Retain aging vets that signed good contracts before with sweetheart deals when they are older and less effective. No room for youngsters
MacT: Sign young guns with good 2-3 years to massive contracts and throw them out with more "potential" guys. No room for vets/role players |

Of course Vey gets let off easy....I know he plays C but it pisses me off how Vey get preferential treatment. |

The kid has to play to learn. He is in a different scenario.i think he has don't ok for a rookie and improves unlike Kass who keeps regressing |

I think he has done ok as well, I just think that he had as many if not more mistakes in the Min game as Kass did. Kass also had put in a pretty nice run of games but is automatically the first guy out (possibly) after a poor game. |

I was wondering if we should have resigned Schroeder and kept the pick we used to get Vey? |

He did for sure but the gMes before he was great on the puck , setting up plays. I think ( pure speculTion only) Canucks think he will be part of the Fututre. Kassian could be gone by next week. |

Vey has a greater offensive upside, but he has been given much better opportunities than Schroeder. I still like Vey's game, I just don't like that he has been spoon fed opportunities while other player have to earn them. I also still think that Garrison should of had more value than Vey on the market. |

The Kid has been thrown in the deepend and responded with 9 goals and 12 assists in his Rookie year. I am thinking that is just fine |

I like Sharp, but he turns 34 at the end of this year. Doubt he'll be useful by the time the Canucks are on the rise again.
Would be a waste of assets to acquire him IMO. |

I agree with your assessment that the team views Vey as a future piece and Kassian not, it just disappoints me that when Kassian seemingly took some steps forward he still isn't given any more leash. |

Schroeder is too small and just doesn't have the dynamic talent to make up for it like MSL/Gaudreau. |

The guy has 4 points ( he has only played 10 games), but weren't like 3 of his points against us? The guy is a bust. |
