I would like to get a big body forward like Wheeler this year (in the draft ).I think next year our team should start to take a hit where we can draft a skilled forwards in the top 10 - VANTEL
Unless the Sedins are both below 60 point seasons, I think we will remain a bubble team until they retire or new blood makes the team better.
The lineup is certainly in transition, but I am not sure if we will see a point where we aren't at least competing to be in the playoffs. I don't think management wants to see the team miss the playoffs. Attendance will certainly take a nose dive. |

Worst position to be in: not good enough to do any damage in the playoffs (if we even make them) and too good to win lottery pick - PetrolSexual
Doesn't every non playoff team have a shot at mcdavid. |

Clendenning, Pedan, Virtanen, Mcann and Demko. Our prospect pool has improved substantially in 8 months. Just wait, the Pedan and Clendenning trades will turn out to be steals. - CanuckDon
Our prospect pool was non existent 2 drafts ago |

You have Detroit on one end, and the Oilers on the other end. They are two opposites like the Bizzaro worlds . Then there is everyone else. - VANTEL
Lots of teams draft well and lots don't, you're right that Detroit is probably on or near the top but look at a team like Boston, where Benning came from, they draft really really well.
Nothing says the Canucks can't put some good prospects together over the next three years. That said, I think they'll take a huge step back two years from now. |

I know many here won't want to hear this but I think that it would be hard to find 2 players to fill the Sedin's shoes even if we had the 2nd and 3rd overall again.
Obviously this year there is a lot of hype for the top guys, but do you think that Heatley/Gaborik would of been able to do as much for the nucks as the Sedins have?
what about Spezza/Svitov, Lehtonen/Bouwmeester, Staal/Horton, Malkin/Barker, Ryan/Johnson, Staal/Toews (no doubts there), JVR/Turris, Hedman/Duchene (debatable).
The Sedin's are going to be very hard to replace and likely will take many years of good drafting or some dumb luck to find players of their caliber. - belcherbd
I know there will be a void, but you are bang on with your last comment . It may take many years of good drafting. Our fans need to buckle in , and expect a few low years and keep our picks and prospects. |

St. Louis , Anaheim, LA , CBJ are teams that draft the way I would like to see us go. |

Yup excellent drafting with no top picks, that's what we need. Well I guess LA picked Doughboy second overall but that's it I think? |

I've thought about getting the season ticket just to avoid the adds, it's not like the 20 bucks is gonna kill me |

yes they are, they just have intelligent stable managers who understand they value in drafting and developing while your still competing. - LeftCoaster
Holland's signings/trades are pretty questionable, I think his stable of scouts make him look better than he is. I wonder what the CBA says regarding approaching employed scouts with job offers(either promotion from their current postion or just more money for the same job). I'd imagine the team has to give permission, but I'm a little surprised that teams like Toronto or New York with all that money to spend aren't trying to poach the best scouts. |

He just has a bunch of players there I wouldn't have on the list. Like is Ottawa really going to move Andersen? - thundachunk

No costs just has him going to NYI, FLA, NJ, Van with percentages they will be moved there. |

Let's see 20 dollars for Eks rumours or an expensive bottle of wine, or a night of fine dining with a two for one coupon, or making it to third base with Jun sung |

Yeah, I'll start to get worried if he struggles next year. He missed basically all of last season of his development and is coming off of a hip surgery. I'm still a fan of his.
Was pumped when they picked him. Adam Erne was the other player I liked that year and wanted us to draft before Shinkaruk fell. |

Yeah, that was just a more general comment. I always wonder how good Holland would be with our scouts and how our GM's would have done if they had the DET scouts... |
