It matters exactly as much as you thinking they are first liners. Only difference is I won't be disappointed when they get bounced
- VANTEL

I think Max Lapierre was a first liner here for a little while

Seems like we are in a denial year and the rebuild will truly start after summer hopefully when the NTC's are moved out. But I'm sure Benning is thinking about it right now.
- LordHumungous

This is the worst year cause nothing happens.

I anticipate a first round sweep by one of the california teams will wake some people up.

Keep telling yourself that - but with 2 good trades we have a good team. a second line winger - which can be a rental in my opinion- and then a longer term play for a PP QB, and we are a different team

- TJTD

Earlier this year I was right there with you...get a top 6 guy for Bonino and a top 4 D and playoffs are assured and we might steal a round...ain't gonna happen my friend.

With all of the NTC's and Benning not willing to pull a Gillis this team is what it is...inconsistent and slow and frail. Even the smartest two trades ain't gonna change much of that. Benning might pull off a smart trade for our injured D core but really it's all inevitable.

You would do yourself a favor in wrapping your head around the pending rebuild because it's coming and real soon...if it hasn't started already in Benning and Linden's mind.

Isn't that how it went the last couple of times we were in the playoffs?

Why the (frank) would Lack not start against Calgary? I guess it made too much sense. I got to think more outside the box I guess.

Hold on.

You can't label someone a 1st liner or not based on their individual skill. It's called a 'line' for a reason. It's the way the three players work together that makes them a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th line.

Dale is a 1st liner because he works well with the other two players on that line to generate goals which is the responsibility of the 1st line. Burrows is a 1st liner because he compliments the twins to generate goals.

Miller played awesome in that game it could have been a way different score if not for him. I don't see the logic either but it almost worked.

I think it is just wishful thinking from people bored with the same names, and unless (or until) Miller gets moved we will putter along. They signed him to compete, otherwise we would have played the swedes. Our young guys are coming along ok. A nice vet on the second line with consistent drive and leadership would go a long way to evening out the play I think.

I think they're going to try and bridge until some of these younger guys are ready. I don't think it will be full rebuild.

Well, we've had our drama but I am very confident in Benning and his pedigree. We just have to be patient over the next few years as they continue to draft & develop. At least most of our games have been entertaining.
- Marwood

Why? Because of his pedigree?

IMO we still have to wait on Trev, Benning, and Willie. I've seen nothing to suggest confidence other than Benning's time with Boston and Willie's time in the Stars organization.

I got to see more than one good draft and one forced big trade (kesler). It's good to be optimistic but I think we need a bit more from these two other than not being terrible.

I stand corrected. Burrows and Weise are first liners. Bad ones and both will have an early season but none the less first liners

Very possible if we make it. I still think that with this current roster we are not playoff material. There isn't much in the way around the injuries either.

We still need to make the playoffs. With so many injuries and teams crawling up out butts , it is not a given we make the POs

in the Kane build up it was mentioned that Don Meehan was Trevor Linden's agent. I like that point, among other things, about Trevor. I think people seriously under estimate Linden, and with Benning our leadership has significant reach across the NHL to make the most of their situation.

I don't know. There is no way to tell.

Lack has a much better record (and stats) playing Calgary. Why not stick with the stats? What else does a coach/we have, hunches?

I'm starting to dislike Millers game. I'm starting to mistrust Miller as I did with Luongo. That one bad goal a game is starting to piss me off.

They both let in goals on the ice which are the worst.

I am confident in Benning simply because he actually scouts unlike our previous regime. Heard Ron Toigo last week saying Benning has been to more Giants games this season than the entire tenure of Gillis' regime. That in itself is enough for me.

Higgins is second line and he does not belong there either. Oilers are an AHL quality team but get called an NHL team. I guess you really can put lipstick on a pig and it becomes a duck.

Great, the league respects us again. So what?

In comparison to what has happened over the past three years to this franchise things are looking better, no question. I just want to see a bit more progress towards being a force again.

I know I'm being impatient but I'm a fan so I'm allowed to be impatient.

you don't get it - our first line all have NTC's so they are not going anywhere this year. Switching to a discussion on the second line - if we traded for a leadership guy then Higgins will get bumped (or probably shipped out in the trade) so your comment is nonsensical on multiple levels.
