There's 19 teams in the middle of the pack just like us, we're one of 20. Probably five legit Cup contenders and five teams with a realistic shot at the top pick.

It's not a terrible situation to be in, you get to watch some good hockey and maybe a playoff round or two...what's so wrong about that? Canucks just had two solid drafts and I suspect they'll continue to draft well under Benning, it's a slow process but it's better than being the Oilers.

Draft and develop!

Benning is a man on a mission. He keeps trying for the legitimate young top liners... I have faith he'll be hard on the scent this summer to move up or double up in the first round. That or grab a young top six in a trade like he tried with Kane.

Canucks need to start looking towards the post-Sedin era. At this rate, it will be upon us before we know it.
- PetrolSexual

Start? Why do you think Benning tried to move up at the draft and trade for Kane? They have been working on replacing the top line from the start.

Wait, wait, wait.

Nonis had nothing to do with Luongo becoming a canuck. Keenan approached Nonis about aquiring Bertuzzi and offered Luongo. Nonis put together the most logical package in Bert, a d-man, and a goalie. No brainer.

Very much like Gillis' acquisition of Ehrhoff. Nothing to do with Gillis.

Name onother good Nonis trade/move other than Lu? It's not easy.

Linden for Boyd Gordon. Was that Nonis or Burke? If so that wasn't a bad deal.

Yeah, Gillis had his faults, but he was far from a horrible GM.
- Nucker101

I look at it as he was horrible but did manage a couple/few quality things. Truth is, its hard not to something good in 5 or 6 years. Picks have to hit eventually, a trade or two may work out of many... you get patted on the back for failing to get your man when it blows up for the team who beat you out etc...

Fine but no nuts traded a pile of picks and made the playoffs once in his 4 yrs.
- Bieksa#3

You once corrected me on the 4 years for failing to mention one of those years was a lock out year... his first. Everyone missed the playoffs.

Anyone watching this Islanders-Rangers game? Pretty intense game.

Could use some Chris Higgin, particularly on the Rangers...

Great game, both teams are fun to watch, especially the Isles. Their fans put ours to shame as well.

I know. Nonis had a much better position in the draft. Gillis did have a higher pick in his first years because of Nonis' suckage.

The goalie?

Toronto Maple Leafs’ goaltender Jonathan Bernier learned that mistakes can be amplified this weekend when he said former South African President Nelson Mandela was one of his favourite athletes.

“He is one of the most known athletes in the world and a lot of impact in any kind of sport that he did. Even playing hockey, everyone knows him. From being the type of person he was off the ice and on the ice. But you know he changed a lot while he was with us. He’s a tremendous guy.”
