Yes he's their WHL scout now, that said, Benning has been out scouting Seattle himself, says a lot about how much he trusts Delorme. - LeftCoaster

Canucks ownership past and present have made the mistake of moving GM's too soon. Not including the most recent firing. - thundachunk
So who you talking about? Burke? I mean Quinn was here forever. Nonis should have never been hired, so firing him was a no brainer |

I'm not sure that any of those players can be considered steals yet, they all have looked good so far but there are lots of players that look good in the minors and never translate it to success in the NHL. |

A few.
The Spurs won in 1997 with the lowest possible odds(I believe) and selected Tim Duncan - Bieksa#3
Well, fingers crossed. |

I would have given Burke a longer leash. Nonuts and GMMG should never have been hired. |

Blackawks finished 5th last and they won the lottery for Patrick Kane, lucky (frank)ers. |

I doubt you are going to find that guy with the 17 th pick - VANTEL
In 2003 the 17th pick was Jach Parise. |

Yeah, Gillis had his faults, but he was far from a horrible GM. |

I'd say corrado is on the verge of the nhl, so at where he was picked I will call him a steal |

It would be a massive victory if the Canucks were even able to move up in the lottery to #3. i think Hannafin is going to be a game changer. |

He had success adding to a preexisting core on the verge of a big playoff drive. |

Probably just picked him because of his brother Zach being so good. |

He added some good pieces(Demitra/Sundin/Samuelsson/Torres/Higgins/Hamhuis/Ehrhoff/Malhotra). You have to give him credit for those moves if you're gonna rip him for all of his bad ones. He also made changes the scouting group, making Crawford the chief scout and such.
The Booth and Ballard moves as well as the goalie drama was his biggest downfall. Also failing to recognize the team was starting to decline after the SCF and the core needed a shakeup.
Horvat is looking pretty good now though... |

Really? How long was he there before the made it? He still stuck with those guys. Signed guys to good deals and brought the right guys in.
It was time for Gilles to go when he did but can't argue with success he had |

Hindsight is everything, had Gillis/Nonis hung on to more picks and not made any moves for cup runs they would of been vilified for being too passive and not attempting to improve the club when they had a window.
Nonis mad a great trade in acquiring Luongo for only Bertuzzi, Allen and Auld.
Gillis made some good trades in acquiring Ehrhoff, Higgins, Lappiere and didn't give up anything for Booth even though he was a disappointment, both Samuellson and Sturm were done.
The Ballard trade looked good at the time but didn't work out. Pahlsson was a bust but only cost 2 4ths and an ECHLer. Hodgson trade was a wash, although I hated it at the time.
The Roy trade didn't work at all. The Schneider trade was underwhelming and the Luongo trade was brutal.
We will see how Benning does, but he doesn't have the same pressure to win now as the previous two had. I like how Benning operates but time will tell if he can make enough successful moves to be considered better. |
