A team record 21 goals this season for Belleville Bulls defenceman Jordan Subban. Still not signed by the #Canucks. - hillbillydeluxe
He needs to be signed. He's going to be better than PK.
Because he's still not NHL-ready and a work in progress, both Biega and Seguinetti have outplayed him. Looks like he is progressing though, but I believe he's waiver eligible next season so it's gonna be interesting to see if he's on the team next year.

I know the Canucks arent good enough to make a run. So I hope any trade they make is for the future and not something right now.
I think Benning is smart enough to know this.
What concerns me. Is we play like garbage against bad teams and then pull off convincing wins against the good ones. What the hell am I watching here!?!?
I cant tell if were decent or garbage..... We sure as hell arent great. - vancity787
We aren't even close to good enough to make a run. Our consistency levels certainly have shown that this year. We 'appear' to play up/down to the level of most of the teams we are playing. Beat teams like STL CHI BOS and DET but get pounded by Minny Dallas LA and a few others. It really is all over the place this year as we don't know which version of the team we are gonna get on any given night.
It does appear that Benning is sharp though. But with Edler/Tanev possibly out I wouldn't be shocked to see a trade for a DMAN here soon. Nothing in the way of dumping assets but something in the way of some stable help for the backend. If the playoff push is still a priority then we can't roll with what we have on the backend...aint gonna make it.
Yeah, if Tanev was putting up even 30-35 points there's no way you'd get him at 4M-4.5M. - Nucker101
He's a first pairing Defencemen. Almost impossible to get him less then 5 a season.
Niskanen 5.75
Carle 5.5
Brodie 4.65
Bogosian 5.1
Faulk 4.8
Stralman 4.5
Kulikov 4.3
some numbers of some more recent signed D. Not comparing them to Tanev but just a look at what guys got.

Very different in that Garrison is single, Hammer's life outside of hockey with wife, three kids and church dictate he won't be traded…ever. - LeftCoaster
Haha... god will find him on his new team if he gets traded.

Niskanen, Carle, Stralman for sure were not RFA's when they signed and Brodie may not of been either. Faulk, Kulikov and Bogosian either have great offensive abilities or are very physical, which generally garners larger salaries than players like Tanev.
Brodin's 21. Tanev's 25. Brodin's ceiling is way higher than Tanev's. - KB3Point0
Brodin is younger but I'm not so sure his ceiling is that much higher, he has never put up good offensive numbers in any league. Brodin might improve his offensive side a bit but it is rare for guys to go from very little offense in minors/developmental leagues to PP QB's in the Pro's.

There really are lots of possible moves that could help us, but I can't see Benning bringing in much more than a rental on d with the number of dmen we already have on the books and the salary devoted to our forwards. I think more moves may be needed to set up a bigger move.
With the Brandon McMillan pickup, I keep wondering if he wants to dump a regular forward and keep Kenins in the lineup and use McMillan in the lineup too. The team has skated better with Kenins in the lineup and am wondering if he is looking at some forwards as being expendable and wants to go further with more youth/energy in the lineup?
