People can whine about Botchford all they want, but frankly, he's pretty bang on with his assessment. Whether the Canucks decide to move any of those guys or not that's likely about their market value (as individuals, not packaged together).

well that's pretty much the equivalent of having the 10th overall pick this year and hoping mcDavid will fall to you. Would it be wonderful... yes..... is it realistic... hell no
- Mungo

How does what Botchford said equate to having a 10th pick and praying for McDavid???

Yes, but do you think his evaluation of what those players would be worth in a trade is wrong?

Bieksa waiving his NTC is almost as likely as us getting McDavid.

It's not hard to say that we should certain players for the betterment of the team, but you have to have some basis in reality.

Doubt it. When you're in the process of building a prospect pool you just can't make a big splash.

I don't see Benning doing much at the TDL either outside of potentially selling low on Kassian

Sounds like one of Higgins or Hansen could be used to secure another pick in this draft. I willing to bet that Higgins could be convinced to waive for the islanders this season.

Higgins for a pick or prospect would be ideal

I don't think we'd get a legit prospect, I'd be pretty happy with a 2nd round pick, even from a top 5 team. Higgins' shooting percentage is way too low for a forward and it's not trending in the right direction.

He'd be a great third line winger for the Islanders or the Rangers.

what do you think of the player in general, though. Would you want him on the Canucks? I mean, he was (a while back of course) a fairly prolific scorer with the Habs and a lot of hype was associated with his earlier production. I'd love to seem him do well but it seems that he is more suited for a 3rd line role). What sayeth thee?

I know the Canucks arent good enough to make a run. So I hope any trade they make is for the future and not something right now.

I think Benning is smart enough to know this.

What concerns me. Is we play like garbage against bad teams and then pull off convincing wins against the good ones. What the hell am I watching here!?!?

I cant tell if were decent or garbage..... We sure as hell arent great.

We need to resign tanev, Mathias, Richards, and dorsett. The rest I don't care for.

The fact that this team can beat the likes of CHI or BOS on any given night instills some confidence in it's ability to possibly surprise in the 1st round this year. I highly doubt this team is better than a 2nd round appearance and much will come down to the luck of the draw IMO.

Putting it another way, as it stands now the teams we'd most likely play would SJ (as #2 or #3 in the Pacific), ANA (Wildcard 1), or NSH (Wildcard 2). I can't see us getting past any of them. If the playoffs were to start today we'd be playing SJ who'd have home-ice advantage.

If we don't get healthy, talking about playoffs at all might be a moot point. If both Edler and Tanev end up missing any significant time, we're hooped.

We can't keep all 3 of those forwards. I'd say 1 maybe 2 depending on who else is moved. There has 2 be room for the kids
