They got that from Hockey Night In Canada which also said the Penguins might be interested in a backup goalie too. Also Dumo/Harrington could be available for a veteran defenseman.

The four guys I would trade if the deal was right would be Sutter, Bennett, Ehrhoff and Martin. All four are soft players and the only one that plays decent enough hockey that the softness isn't as much of a factor is Martin. Sutter and Bennett while I don't think are that good I think they'll be a GM or two willing to give up something worth while to get them. Ehrhoff and Martin should fetch something solid with defence men being hot commodities. With the money Ehrhoff and Martin will most likely command it would be wise to move them and bring in a defence man that's tougher to play against and a forward for top 6. If money is an issue for the top 6 forward than try and get a solid depth guy which shouldn't be to hard to find someone more effective than what Sutter or Bennett has been.

I'm so tired of the doom and gloom people like you. The Rangers have 4 lines?? Really?? Their bottom 6 is nothing to write home about. And we have the best 1st line and the best 2nd line of all of them. Our bottom 6 could use some substitutions sure but it's really not hopeless or dire like some of you people make it out to be. What's people thoughts on a Sutter for Lars Eller swap? Basically same money, Eller comes with more term, provides less offensively than Sutter but comes with more toughness/grit and can truly be that 3rd line shut down center. It's all over TSN that Eller is on the block.

I'm not sure he adds more toughness/grit. He's fairly soft. And although their caps hits are the same his actual salary is closer to $4 and keeps climbing throughout the contract and maxes out at $4.7 in the final year. Someone Pitt should take a look at is Chris Kelly from Boston. $3 mil cap hit, plays on their 4th line and Boston has cap issues moving forward....and when GMJR is talking to Chirelli he should ask about Reilly Smith

If you're going to play bennett and sutter on the 3rd line and put a guy that has produced more consistently, hits, fights, chirps and is all around a better person in life on the 4th line you might as well trade him. Downie is simply and better hockey player than every player on the third and fourth line last game.....He was prob just banged up a little though, at least that's what I'm hoping.
