By far my favorite poster on this board!
Seriously though. There is no spot for BB in the top 6, he doesn't play well in the bottom 6, if he can fetch a return by all means move on from him. Sutter needs to be replaced. No need for more Dmen, just better bottom 6. - sammy87

I like to say Mario was the best while Gretz was the greatest.
Without a doubt Mario had unequaled talent and that remains today. - madmike71

Mario Lemieux is the reason I became an ice hockey & Pens fan. Great player, great man, great story.
Mario est le meilleur de tout les temps. |

just give ehrhoff the contract martin has now for 4 years. I would also like to see scuderi moved and MAYBE if the pens can make a deep run in the playoffs, scuderi's value may rise a bit and some team would take him. - drummer829
It sounds like Ehrhoff (or his agent) wants more than $5 mil. And if Sekera gets more than $5mil I don't blame Erhoff (although he still is getting paid by buffalo). As far as Scuderi he is what he is and other teams know that. Maybe there's a market and maybe not... a buyout wouldn't be the worst thing if he can't be moved and assuming the salary cap will slowly continue to climb. $1.13mil on the books for the next 4 years.

Your stupidity is actually painful to read good job. You prove you didn't even attempt to understand the very thing you're female doging about only three sentences in. There's no problem in having your own opinion about the blog or stats, but you can't even get your facts straight. Beau has only played with Geno this season, and he looked his best then pre-injury when he was, you know, on his natural wing. Despite the fact that he doesn't mind playing LW he obviously has more comfort on the right side; and even then his time with Geno was slim.
You then attempt to make excuses for the softest 3C to ever play the game, who has been all but invisible for a ridiculous stretch of time now but won't acknowledge Beau's work on two goals?
Neither one has been anything to brag about this season, but Sutter is being paid way more, playing like trash, and isn't being held accountable like BB has just because of his name. BB can create a little own his own, but If Sutter is going to play soff like Craig Adams theres no chance of Bennett suddenly playing like an 8 mil center who can carry a line by himself.
People who would rather hate on a young and cheap Bennett, and ship him out of town for nothing, need to get a (frank)ing clue and give him and the coaching staff time to work on his game. You know like that guy Despres and his situation that had everyone in an uproar last season, or maybe even that team called Detroit who develops their guys better than any other team. - ImScore71
Excuse after excuse for Beau and you are one of the guys that continues to give him a pass. Beau Bennett has shown nothing to date to give anyone any evidence that he is a competent player in this league. He is soft; he is fragile. People continue to use the injury excuse and it gets old. 69 NHL games, 9 goals and 21 assists. Nothing to write home about. But yet, with the way people talk, they still see a star in him for whatever reason.
You sir dont have a clue. Breath on Beau and he gets injured. Stupidity is continuing to give excuses for him. |

If BB is so good, why doesn't he make Sutter better? They both just drag each other down.
I want him to be good, an in house ELC top 6 would be amazing for the club. Its just not happening with BB. |

My absolute favorite Mario goal was at the Richland Coliseum, Gary Thorne announced the whole play perfectly all while Mario made one of the finest plays ever.
Favorite moment was early December of 2000 when I looked towards the tv and read Mario is attempting a comeback. Trey Wingo did a nice piece on him leading up to the TML game too.
Edit: I guess we know who the single guys are tonight |

I know my god how could any of us possibly want this 23 year old who still hasn't won a scoring title after 69 games. That's like almost one full hockey season bro! We should totally stop making excuses for him. It's not like we need any of that fancy forward depth people who win stanley cups covet. Lets trade him for Jagr for nostalgia's sake or better yet another rental.
I mean every player we draft for the top six like Beau or Kap better be ready to spend all their time playing with Brandon (frank)ing Sutter and looking like the next Gordie Howe, because Oneonta will have none of their injury excuses good sirs! Because if Oneonta could walk injured and uphill both ways to the bathroom back in his day surely Beau could play with a cast on. |

Hoff will be looking for 5-6 years ... 30 to 36 million ... Pens wont go there... Martin and Hoff will be playing else where next season...
Letang
Maatta
Despres
Pouliot
Scuds
Bortz, Harrington... Perhaps they bring someone in on the cheap... or move Sutter and/or Bennett to acquire a vet man.
A lot of the off season depends 1) on what the Pens do this year in the playoffs 2) the Cap 3) What happens with duper (3.25 cap number) |

5 mil for 6 years for Ehrhoff... and you think we don't jump on that? I think we would take a swing at that kind of a deal for him.
You do that, and you get pairings like this.
Letang Ehrhoff/Despres
Maatta Ehrhoff/Despres
Scuds Pouliot/Dumo/Whoever
I don't know who will get that top spot with Letang, Ehrhoff and Despres both have shown the ability for it. |

It really depends on what he wants as well. 5.5 each year for 6 years to a team that may not ever be a top 10 team or even in the playoffs. Or 5 a year to a team that is a top 10 team?
The length, yes, that is more likely a bigger issue for us, or should be an issue. We already have an over the hill defenseman making too much. But if he would take 3-4 years at 5.5 or less a year. I'd jump on that instantly.
edit: always my personal opinion, that nearly ALL players want to win the cup sometime in their career. And with that, they may take anywhere from 5-25% less than the highest they could get to play someplace better. (25% being in extreme cases, but no way Ehrhoff didn't have a 5 mil offer this season when he came here for 4 mil).
And that is not a "Everyone wants to play for the Penguins" thing. This would apply to any team that is considered in the top 10 or so. |

Half a point a game for whats basically a rookie playing on our 3rd line? I don't think that's so terrible. Every year we have to trade away for wingers. Id like to see us give some homegrown talent a chance for a change. Look what its done for Despres after all this time. |

I think with Erhoff this was his go for the cup season after getting out of Buffalo. Next year it's "show me the money" again

Erhoff has been completely mediocre. Nothing about him warrents any contract extension whatsoever. He is a watered down paul martin. Hope to God they don't offer him anything |

Erhoff had being playing alright before the injury but he did start out bad. I feel he hasn't been used enough on the PP. They want more shots on goal and he is a shooter. I don't get it.... but some skeptics will probably say that it's Sids call

What's funny is all the reports says they want to find a d to play with ehrhoff... which means they might want to keep him.. but next yr you already have 6 out of 6 d
Letang despres
Maatta poliout
Scuderi borts
So who is odd man out if they get another d at deadline like petry... borts?scuderi?
What sucks is pens can probably get picks for martin amd ehrhoff at deadline but with maatta out they need them to win cup...so I guess they walk |

I'd say borts. His contract isn't too bad and would be a solid bottom pairing player on many teams. Harrington and dumoulin will come around. Their game is more defensive and takes more time to develop. People are talking like Harrington is a bust when the kid was thrown in an enormous role due to all of those injuries. |
