I wonder if Gary Roberts summer camp would be good for Kassian? Maybe he will learn discipline and maybe even get better foot speed. |

I think more posters on here need a trade more than the Canucks do. - A_SteamingLombardi

Any thoughts on the strategy of the Brandon McMillan pickup?
Wondering with his cheap NHL salary if they are putting the team in a position to take on more salary in a trade? - hillbillydeluxe
It's primarily a Utica move...they will keep him for a couple games while they wait for BOnnino to return and in the interim kenins is sent down to help the farm. They will try and sneak macMillan down through waivers shortly in order to further bolster Utica. It seems pretty obvious they want to take a serious run at the Calder Cup this year.

Then we can really compare the two and decide once and for all who won the trade. |

Kennins has been pretty effective so far in his role, physical and chipping in with some offense. - Nucker101
Perhaps Kenins is here to stay and they signed this guy to fill his spot in Utica... |

He'll have to clear waivers to get to Utica. |

Doesn't have to, but as the team needs a trade(and a fairly big one) trade is more likely. - Retinalz
Why does this team need a big trade right now? Why can't it wait til summer? I don't see missing an opportunity on Kane pushing Benning into other trades immediately. How many young top six players are being shopped right now?
Since when does adding 4rth line depth during times of injury mean trade anyways...very seldome... a player was just acquired because of the temp need in the bottom 6... you are overlooking that this may mean the desired acquisition was made and a trade less likely even.... and a move like this being the domino that gets the "big trade" rolling is really unlikely.
Seems like you are confusing what you desire with what this trade means.

Like Kenins he brings energy and has 3 PTs in 5 games |
|

i don't know if he is or not, but Kenins small sample size is just that.....McMillan has much more experience.
I mean, if McMillan doesn't pan out, no harm.......but he's there to play a role and potentially upgrade the bottom 6.... - chompsey
I take this as a bottom 6 contract dump coming up and Benning trusts McMillan more than the bottom 6 of Utica |

It is insurance. Obviously not part of a big trade.
If UFA talks go south with Ritchie Dorsett or Matthias they can trade for picks, this guy fills in and Bobs your Uncle. Or we can trade Hansen or Higgins for picks |

simply a depth move. An opportunity presented itself and I bet Benning felt he has enough NHl experience he would grab him instead of calling up some of the guys that are starting to hit a stride in the AHL. While horvat is playing well and RK has done well as a recent call up, he probably felt a little better grabbing something for nothing, simply as a depth play. Now he has one more option while injuries settle out.
He can call someone up or plug him in...options, dominoes, musical chairs...

Anyone see that 88 yr old rush the mound iat the Colorado fantasy camp. Reminded me of the fat coach that got thrown to the ground in the bench clearing brawl |
