I dont see a need for Jagr anymore. Penguins top 6 should be set in stone for the rest of the year.
Kunitz-Crosby-Perron
Comeau-Malkin-Hornqvist
Because of this, I dont see a need for Jagr. I do see a huge need for Winnik. Winnik would be the ideal type of guy we need for the bottom 6
I wouldnt trade Sutter or Bennett unless it's for a similar longer term guy and not a rental. Both have been awful. No better way to say it. Its not just about the lack of goal scoring, neither win puck battles. Neither do the things you need to do to win.
Does anyone think VAN would entertain a Kassian for Bennett swap. Kassian has actually played much better since he was a healthy scratch for a few games so that cow might have left the barn but I think Kassian would be a good idea but I doubt VAN does it at this point. - SuperHenderson13
I agree about the top 6 being set.
I wouldn't move Bennett for Kassian. He just doesn't do much for me. I still think Bennett is salvageable, but maybe not this season. But if I move him, I want a young, controlled asset back.
Sutter... I'd trade him for just about anything now. It might take two deals to replace him, not sure that there is a big market for 3rd line center for 3rd line center, so you might have to dump him for a pick or whatever, and flip that for another center somewhere.

Someone did suggest Sutter +, and no Perron was not a bust, he was an established NHL player having a bad season on a bad team.. Hodgeson has never established himself..he's all hype, and the hype is wearing off. He'll be lucky to be in the league in 2 seasons. - Willaged
.57 ppg at the NHL level over 200 games = bust. OK
Agree to disagree. Not wasting anymore time discussing, sorry if I ruined your day. Back to Jags and Winnik please. Need to hear more about them. |

Any chance the Coyotes would take Sutter and Beau for Vermette? Maloney said they're wanting to retool not rebuild so 2 younger NHL players under contact might be what they'll take |
|

People just want him gone. As I do. I would love if a "connected" writer would offer some insight on Sutter's value because I honestly don't know. After a very good playoffs and a nice start to the season, he's be f'n terrible. So how do you value that player?
FWIW.... Rossi said Sutter is available. Same with Beau. - madmike71
This post makes me super happy and super sad all at the same time. Don't believe Rossi for a minute but Sutter should definitely be on the block.

So we trade 2 young forwards for a 32 yr old... um no that would be stupid... pen avg age on team is like 29... |

Really don't think we need to pay that much for him. They got him for a 2nd, 5th and throw in prospect. I would rather throw that offer at Hanzal. |

Jagr and Winnik would be great for the Pens! JagrWatch - PensFanRVA
Just what we need a 42year old rental that doesn't serve much of a purpose. The infatuation with Jagr is utterly ridiculous. |

Does it matter that the young forwards aren't cutting it? Sutter has maxed out and Beau may or may not be a top 6 forward even when healthy. Next year you have young guys knocking at the door ( sundqvidt, wilson, rust, kappanen) and you want them stuck behind beau and sutter? |

I agree with that. Asking price would have to be awfully low for me to OK with a Jagr trade... that being said..could add some size to the 3rd line and make them harder to contain... but once again... I wouldn't get in a bidding war for the guy |
|

Ok if pens go after winnik hopefully it's something like harrington or dumo... if sutter martin or ehrhoff is sent I hope it's for picks... pens need some depth and they don't have a a 1st or 3rd... need to stock the cupboards. I know kap and sund will be atleast be in wbs next yr that will help but still.. - nh4442
Why are you ok sending Harrington for a third line rental? That is severe overpayment.

Next year will be his last, I would rather win another Cup and cement myself as one of the best instead of dying alive in EDM/NJ for another million dollars or so. - znagle
He could never play another game and he's already one of the greatest players ever. |

Hanzel would be nice but he's injury prone. Misses about 15 games or so a year.....I think he may even be out now |

Difference is though that I'm not set for life, I understand what you were trying to say though. If I had that much I would play on a cheap deal for another ring. |

I really do not get the hype on needing to overpay for Jagr. Have we not suffered enough from Shero's rental players? If the price is cheap, sure, but Jagr is not going to be cheap. Our top 6 is as good as its ever been, just focus on 1 more depth player and pray for no more god damn injuries. |

Bc he isn't getting ice time and is behind a lot of guys... and its not like pens are getting ryan o'reilly or eberle and he can be an add in. Unless he's package in a deal for tlusty...
What is ur value for winnik then? |

Ryan, loved your Evander Kane trade analysis article. Well done. - TheSabresTaco
Of course you do ... Wilson is one of the bigger excuse makers for Kane acting like a turd. He can't put two and two together as far as Kane doing this to get out. He is already a one-time loser in the lockerroom. His teammates grew to hate him as evidence of the most recent incident. Does this change in Buffalo? The city mirrors that of Winnipeg in ever fashion. Add in the fact next year they won't be winning (granted talent is on the way), lets just see what Evander Turd acts like. He essentially has three years to rehab himself before UFA. If the status quo continues, he will go to UFA as a two-time loser and no one will pay for his services. I can't stand players that go to the extent he did to get traded out of the situation. Be professional, not an immature malcontent. |
