It's not a bad contract, however it is a bad contract for Tampa. His cap hit would be prohibitive to re-signing Stamkos and Hedman. Plus you add in the cost to acquire him and the entire idea of Kessel to Tampa makes no sense at all - uf1910
I've been listening to your team needs and have the solution.
We'll throw in bozak and robidas for stamkos and hedman. |

Murray is now the dumbest gm in the league - Paulg

I think Winnipeg wins this trade, Myers is a better player
than Bogosian. |

A minor issue and very easily hurdled with proper planning. Hedman is a UFA the year after Stamkos and you can resign Stamkos and still fit Kessel under the cap very easily. Additionally they can move Kessel in a couple years if you have to open cap space. He's 27yo no reason to expect a decline any time in the next few seasons. - Lipchitz
Team Need? Does that term have any significance to you. If we spend the necessary cost to acquire Kessel we wouldn't have (or be willing to move) the pieces to get the piece we really need which is a RHD. So we would make a big move at a position we have too much depth to begin with and not address our real need which would go the furthest to help us win games, which is what your "reasoning" for making this trade was in the first place. The salary cap issue would be a hindrance down the road and even if we did fit Stammer and Hedman deals with kessel it would surely cost us guys like Palat and others who would be hitting UFA years. Sorry man but Kessel isn't coming to Tampa.

They can't resign Stamkos Kucherov Johnson Palat Connolly Hedman Nesterov Sustr Barbario etc while having Kessel and 8 mill on the cap. They are pressed against the cap as is and have a lot of guys on very good deals and not a lot of money coming off the books. Nobody saying kessel is bad. Hell nobody said he is even overpaid in this debate. But the fact is with the current committed money and the guys they'll need to resign they would likely have to lose a couple core players like Johnson and Kucherov to have Kessel and get under the cap and I think that makes Tampa much worse off. |

Don't worry Meyers takes his share of stupid penalties and wait till you see small players like Gallagher, Desharnies muscle him off the puck...6'8 220 it's pitiful. When behind the net in his own end watch how many times Myers ends up on his back on the ice. He will bring some offense to the team for sure. Both Myers and BOGO needed changes and got it. Buffalo over paid a little by a prospect but GMTM wanted to get it done now so it didn't become a bidding war this summer and the price to do business would have gone up. Armia is talented but gets injured often as I think might be the case with Kane but Kane has proved he can put the puck in the net. To me Lemieux is the wild card in this trade and hated seeing him included. - Leninthebuff
So now he's pitiful and gets out muscled by little guys but yesterday he was worth Mantha, Tatar and a first?

What a tragedy for Buffalo fans, again...ridiculous. Maybe we can trade our other 1st rounders for Dion...awful trade by an awful GM for an awful team. |
