Seems like it would have costed the pens maatta (if healthy), bennett, blueger, and 2016 1st for kane and bogosian. Would you guys have done that?

It's the kind of deal where you're there with your kid pointing out a player on the field when a guy six rows up yells: "My girl says you were lookin at her. You got a problem?!". His girl is invariably dressed like Sindel.

California is a very diverse State. There are plenty of places that wouldn't feel out of place in the third world, but there is much between that and Pier 39.

Without a shadow of a doubt.

He is the exact style of player that would flourish with Geno, and he solves our power play problem; he is a PP genius.

Im not a huge fan of JJ coming back. But, if he did and Jags comes out with the 3rd jerseys, CEC would go insane! JJ would eat that attention up. Sutter and the 4th line plugs are a bigger concern IMO.

No but that doesn't mean he should suit up for old time sake or he's still got it. What about Satan, he had a good game in the finals lets bring him back too! Why did we let Orpik walk? He was good back then, oh wait people get old and slow.
- sammy87

nowhere in my post did I EVER say anything about wanting Talbot back...I simply asked why everyone was hating on a guy that scored both goals in Game 7 of our last cup victory. Make sense?

It's been said a few times...Crosby doesn't want Hornqvist on his line...wants Kunitz there...

Main reason Jagr won't come here...3 RWs (if he came) and only 2 lines to put them on

Then there's the power play issue

If EGOS (Crosby, Jagr, Malkin) took a back seat to winning it would work...but the past of Iginla playing LW instead of RW tells me there's a snowballs chance in hell that will happen

Yes, the acquisition of Bogosian was huge. Getting rid of Stafford was even bigger.
- Oneonta Penguin

I think they could have gotten something for Stafford at the deadline by himself though.

They got out of Myers' contract, which is great.

Armia might turn out to be a stud, but they didn't give up a whole lot. Lemieux has potential, and a late first (they still have 2)... Good prospects, but none of those are sure fire impact players.

And they got a really good scoring winger for hopefully McDavid, and a solid defensemen for the next 5 years.

If this is indeed still a problem, Johnson needs fired; like today.

Well we know Sid didn't want to play with Iginla...for whatever reason, right?

It think that was at least part of why he ended up on the left side.

I guess I'm saying I can't see any coach taking a guy who made a hall of fame career at RW putting him on the left unless he was catering to SOMEONE

Stafford is a career underachiever for me. He passes the eye test at times, just like Oshie, Wheeler and Kane, but when you look at the body of work, its missing something. It's not like Stafford played his entire career with poopty linemates. He didn't have much value.

Getting out of the Myers contract was huge for them. They get the best player in the deal in Bogosian. He is a NY boy and probably is giddy to get back closer to home.

Kane is obviously the key of the deal here. It depends on his attitude. He could turn into a great player with a change of scenery, or continue down his current path. I contend he will be a turd in Buffalo too. Buffalo and Winnipeg should be sister cities. They are almost mirror images of each other.

The key is Buffalo didn't give up that big pick that could turn into McDavid.

I'm in. I don't think Mike Johnston is the guy to cure the cultural plague. Give me Jacques Martin. Even the fourth line Pittsburgh puts out there (not that Jacques would) could eat 8-10 minutes and defend the net if they played as a unit and not as three one-way individuals.

Do we know Sid didn't want to play with Iggy? Or was it Disco's call on moving him to the left and leaving 1 of the top lines in hockey at the time (14 87 9) intact? And everybody is on MJ for moving Perron to the right side, but Disco moved Neal to the right side with good results. Sometimes you have to move pieces around to try and find a fit

Yep, traded Martin for him.

Must...have...more...wingers.

I'm sure Pouliot is ready for 20+ minutes/night for the duration of the Penguins march to the Cup.

- jmatchett383

Most teams that win the cup have young players step into roles and provide a spark. Of course what would you know about winning the cup?

It makes tons of sense to think the Penguins can beat the caps, isles or Rangers with the forwards they have. It's done real well so far

Martins 2 goals will go along way in making up for no scoring depth...Good plan

Maatta last year, and Despres this year is a proper example of young role player giving a spark. Pouliot would be pure risk.

Rutherford should send Sutter to Arizona for Arcobello. Sutter's so bad it would still be a good move.

We don't know for sure but I don't think anybody would say it's a stretch that Sid has a lot of say in who his linemates are.

I am near certain it was Dan's call to NOT give Iggy his preferred wing and leave Neal where he was. Even though Neal played on the opposite in the years prior in his career, he rather not give the future HoF big price rental his proper wing.
