IDK... Getting Perron pretty much made me forget about Kane. I'm on the "replace Sutter" bandwagon. I really believe that's the single best move they can make at the deadline.
- madmike71

Perron 3.8 , Sid 8.75 Hornqvist 4.25
Kane 5.25, Geno 9.5, Kunitz 4 million

That is 35 million right there alone. Perron will also need an extension after next season. Add that to MAF 5.75 and Letang 7.25 and you have 48 million alone with the top two lines, top dman and goalie. As of now the cap doesn't look like it's rising that much if at all next year. That leaves us with 6 forwards, 5 defenseman and a back up goalie to sign at least. Don't forget Maatta, Despres will need new contracts soon as well with the rest of our prospect D right behind them.

And that gives you next season, and most likely the one after to roll out this high flying offensive team before half needs resigned and poop starts getting mortgaged.

Why would Peg trade a young mid 20's 30g scorer locked up cheap for 3 more seasons for a garbage 3C and a 36 yr old?
- sammy87

The jets can keep Kane. He has lots of upside but also lots of downside. If GMJR can swing a deal for Tlusty and possibly resign him if he works out might be a better option

When Maata and Despress are up Kunitz will be gone I believe, hopefully Scuds.

But the cap keeps going up, 71 and 87 contracts will look like bargains......when they're 32!

I am not privy to the Pens cap situation for next season, but buying out Scuderi seems to be a rash decision. I know he hasnt played anywhere near his contract but a cap hit of 3.4 for two more years compared to around 1.3 over the next 4? Beleive me it could be worse, you could have suffered through watching Holmgren hand out 30 million over 6 to AMac or signing Vinny to a long term deal. Scuderi is serviceable and a fill in, an expensive one at that but not worth a regular buyout.

According to both McKenzie and Dreger, Buffalo is pushing hard for Kane now. They have the players/futures to make a very attractive deal for Winnipeg.

That would be elite level tanking by Buffalo.

There are 9 games left until the deadline. I just dont know if thats enough time to make a good anaylsis of what we have. I heard Ducks might be willing to move Emerson Etem who is pretty much done there. What do you think of BB for Etem straight up? Fresh starts for both of them. Plus they're both rfa's at an afforadable cap hit.

I liked the Lapierre trade, because I thought it might give them a chance to replace Sill with a better possession guy, even if he was "soft", like an Arcobello.

Johnston values grit, and while it's overrated, I can't imagine a like with both Goc and Arcobello as effective enough of a playoff 4th line. Adding Lapierre, I thought, would give them the flexibility to use a more skilled winger, but that hasn't happened yet.

- rival22

I don't mind adding "grit" as long as it isn't in the absence of other redeeming qualities. To me, Arcobello was versatile, cheap (which is an underrated trait), and a mildly competent possession and production player. That puts him leagues ahead of Sutter, Sill, and Adams.

From a pure talent stand point its obviously absurdly stupid. I don't think it will happen. But the asking price continues to go down then who knows.

You have to combined these 9 (or 7 is Comeau isn't back until after the Thursday game) with our first 15 or so when all was healthy. Its far from ideal, but we got butt (frank)ed with injuries this season.

Honestly, Scuds should be the least of our worries right now. He's not been great, but he's been fairly decent the last couple of months.

That Amac deal was an absolute head shaker. Every time he played the Pens he was brutal. I think I remember a -5 night.....a well deserved -5.

Difference is BB is not done here. May be able to pull Etem for a draft pick.

I wish Homer was still the GM in philly because I'm worried Hextall may eventually turn that team around by being patient......

He really has. He is a major reason the PK sits near the top. If only we had the luxury to only play him in that situation...
