This was pretty close to a textbook game, nice to see.
Comeau sure makes a difference on that second line, should put him on the PP since he doesnt mind shooting the puck..
I wish Crosby would just shoot the damn puck.
4th line looked good tonight too.
3rd not so good.

last thing in the mini-rant..

I'm more convinced than ever Sutter is the guy that should be traded.

Still love Sutter and Dumo/Harrington for Petry and Pakarinen deal the most...

Other options we've discussed that I like:
Spaling for Bergenheim
Bennett (+?) for Brett Connolly or Marcus Foligno could work too

I think D is fine with Ehrhoff back.

- YouMeAndDupuis9

Bennett for Marcus Foligno would be awesome!

Not sure what you see in Pakarinen or Petry. We have enough puck movers we need another big pressence that we lost in Orpik.

Bergenheim is too small and streaky, Im sure his possession numbers look great while he holds onto the puck on the perimeter but we've tried the perimeter approach and it wasnt that effective.

Look at what worked tonight, guys to the net, thats all I want is guys who drive the net.

Ehrhoff + Bennett to LA for Clifford and 1st
Flip the 1st to Ottawa for Methot.

Petry gives us options. Right hand shot, good on the PP (shoot first mentality), good skater, more physical than you think. Pakrinen is a bulldog 4th liner. He has Brendan Gallagher ceiling, imho. We lose Sutter, which is a win. Plus, we could trade a defenseman for more help up front cause we saved a bit on cap space and would be deep enough on the backend.

Anyway...no issue with Bergenheim's game. Plays well in the playoffs, plays similiar to Comeau to be honest. Issue is the cost.

Murray probably doesn't have any motivation for the Bennett/Foligno swap...

LA could have a 5% chance of winning McDavid lol.

trim the fat its essentially Ehrhoff for Methot and Bennett for Clifford. Meh, I like the guys you're targeting but not at the expense of what were giving up

LA will get in, they're too good.

I'm tired of Bennett/Sutter they bore me. Clifford really impresses me and comes from and organization that knows how to win with their backs against the wall he was a monster in last years playoffs.

You cant trade Ehrhoff directly for Methot because what does Ottawa want with a rental? Methot brings what everyone is hoping Harrington becomes, except with more size.

Ehrhoff isnt waving to go to Toronto.
But Im glad you're bringing up trading Kapanen, he's a bust mark my words.

Poor Bennett. You could tell he was asked to be more gritty and looked lost. It's like telling Datsyuk to go be physical. To be clear, not comparing the talent, just the styles.
- YouMeAndDupuis9

They didn't ask Bennett to be gritty. They asked him to quit playing a perimeter game and quit being passive in the offensive zone. They want him to attack the net with the puck, and go into an area that isn't exactly comfortable.

At this point in his career, Beau probably considers an NHL locker room an area that isn't exactly comfortable.

For him, his game is what the coaches tell him it is. It's ironic and almost a set up to go into a game and need to have a higher battle threshold and have Sutter as your C. Sutter supports gritty play in the same way that a rope supports a hanged man.

F Sutter. I'd rather have lord Rat James Neal and his power rat game than this. What is this? What are we saying his game is?

B Sutter, the NHL's first impairment forward? He's the rarest of players. He's as rare as Andrei Nazarov, the league's only Russian enforcer. He's Josef Beranek minus the coat tails. Trade him, buy him out, hide him behind the nearest glass stanchion. Whatever it takes to make him disappear from the roster and not just the games.

If it's come to that then play him against Boston & tell him to heat up Chara - then he might be put through the glass stanchion.

Good win for the Pens. Didn't hear the game but looks like our secondary scoring - or scoring NOT by either of the Sid & Geno cannons, came good. A few assists from D even & Lapierre gets his first Pens point .

Are the Pens hierarchy reading this blog?? Sutter not traded = No.

Now let's go back to back (frank)ers!

We don't blame Fleury in your scenario at all, our PK goes 6-6, and Crosby, Perron, Letang on the lone goal.

How did DP not belong again dbag, played another solid game. Keep telling yourself he isn't ready pissy boy.

Wow... pissy pissy little boy aren't ya? I point out the obvious in that no one believes Pouliot is NHL ready for a playoff run this season. And hes NOT.
- Guile

Prime example of a dumbass not understanding anything.

51 is more than ready and capable of playing in the NHL. With another 30 games under his belt he will be a key player given the chance knuckleheads like you aren't willing to give him.

But please keep telling yourself duomo, scuds and Borts are better options...

Lol, ok my bad let a dinosaur get to me 😬. I'm sure every #8 overall doesn't deserve a shot. Unreal.

Hes had his shot, hes not ready yet. Just because you have a hard on for him being a 1st round doesn't make you right. Makes you the dumbass, kid.

Really solid game from the boys. Nice bounce back effort after Saturday. Thought the top two lines looked great. I am good with how they are presently constructed. They both are showing good chemistry.
Comeau looked awesome, him coming back allows Downie to slot down on the 4th and stabalizing that line, and no Sill!!
3rd line was bad, outside of maybe 1 nice play from Sutter and the Spaling goal they were terrible. Beau looked terribly out of place and clearly did not respond from the scratches. He will be scratched again tonight I would think.
Pouliot looked awesome. He should be here to stay. Looks really poised in his own zone and made some nice breakout passes.
And the Flower is a machine right now.

I admit I'm starting to lose all faith in BB, however in his defense, he did get to the front of the net on that goal last night. Other than that, he did look out of place most of the game

Its funny, I'm a Horny guy (wtf??) but I didn't realize how small he was until he scored the goal, Comeau gave him the congrats hug, and was like towering over him.

Dudes got some nards for his size...

I'm looking forward to watching him in the playoffs. Chicago fans hated his guts and were glad to see him leave Nashville.

These are the type of players we need to start drafting and developing. Some good scoring guys who will bang bodies and get to the dirty areas. Not these Beau Bennett perimeter guys.

Carry the puck through the neutral zone - check
Clean entry into the zone - check
Get the puck back to the D to generate a shot - check
Get to the front of the net to screen - check
Goal is score - you are invisible and play a perimeter game.

Good question to ask is jagr a better fit in our top 6 then Comeau right now. That's who gets bumped.

That is completely different than what he said. Morrow, Iginla, and Murray were not on LTIR when the Pens traded for them.
- PensFan1103

LTIR works the same for your own current players or players acquired. You get cap relief on time the missed but have to be cap compliant when they come off LTIR

I guess you skipped the 1st 2 rounds that year. I think Talbot could have carried the team against the effort CAR put up. Its a pretty bold statement to say 71 carried the team all the way that year.
- sammy87

Carolina was dead.

The series against NJD was a battle that went right down to the wire, and then Staal went head to head with Chara every shift for seven straight games.

They had nothing left in the tank by the time they got to Pittsburgh.
