lol.

I don't see why the Pens couldn't have acquired Kane and then used the LTIR cap relief for other moves. I didnt think that was "legal" but Murray is showing it is.

- YouMeAndDupuis9

I suggested that Pittsburgh should do that two or so days ago.

Then flip Kane at the draft. I am not convinced that Kane will ever play a game for the Sabres.

GMJR has 10+ years on Murray...and both love to deal. If JR can figure out the non-rotary phone in the office, we could see a deal today.
- YouMeAndDupuis9

That's if can find Murrays # on his rolodex. When I picture Jimbo's office I picture a bean bag chair, couple lava lamps, shag carpet and a couple empty bottles of Jim Beam

Pass... I think Bennett is being misused similar to Despres. I'm not giving up on him yet.....although maybe the coaches have.
- madmike71

You wouldn't be giving up. Foligno has some potetial as well

Pitt didn't have the package the Jets wanted. And after you trade for Kane what do you then trade to upgrade the team this year? Murray wouldn't move that many pieces to have Kane not play in Buffalo

Love JR age jokes

edit: I hope he gets one look at the healthy roster tonight and starts making moves tomorrow. Just because I'm selfish and dont like seeing other teams making trades

I don't watch Buffalo enough to judge Foligno, but I frequently read their blog and he doesn't seem to get much support from their fans.

Who knows what's going on, but with Bennett being scratched so much it wouldn't surprise me at all if he were traded.

I never said anything about this year. Without going into too much detail, this year should be used primarily to give as much playoff experience to young players like Dumoulin and Harrington as is possible. If Malkin carries the team again like he did in 2009 all the way to a Championship, great- but it's going to take multi-point nights every night from 87 and 71 to win playoff games this season, vets or kids in role situations.

Trading for Kane would have meant saving his salary plus whatever the Jets would have accepted in return, leaving room for more hockey deals. Alas.

Czechoslovakia hasn't been a country for almost 30 years, so are you sending him back in time?
- Dcoms

Hahahaha. If we do, can we also send Arnold back to get Sutter's mom before she has him?

I think they're set at forward unless they want someone with size. But they may need a top 4 physical Dman. What they want, we don't have....but I like the idea

Kane wasn't happy in the Peg, why would he be happy in Buffalo? Something tells me that could become just as messy.
- Reverend Killtaker

That something is him always being bigger than his team and unable to check his ego. That's why I don't want him here.

I thought Despres for Connolly was a great trade idea at the beginning of the year but now, obviously, Despres has bloomed and is quite important.

It would have to be like Spaling + a pick ..or Harrington+

I dunno, tough one, but I like the player.

I guess you skipped the 1st 2 rounds that year. I think Talbot could have carried the team against the effort CAR put up. Its a pretty bold statement to say 71 carried the team all the way that year.

No one think its purely cap maneuvering? He is a few games shy of needed to clear waivers. So this could be a way to create cap space at the TDL. Thats the most logical hypothesis I've heard so far...

I agree. I think if we put Bennett out there with Malkin more he could show us what he can do. I know Malkin will make any player better, and Bennett's injuries are his own undoing, but I think sometimes a young guy needs to play with someone who can buy them more time until they get their feet going and gain some confidence.

He is fragile as a Waterford Crystal Vase; he is a pending RFA and hasn't done jack poop thus far. I don't see the anger in people on this topic. He isn't worth anyone getting upset over. Unless you prescribe to the notion don't trade him because his value is at an all-time low, he isn't worth the space to me.

Trading valuable assets for a thug like Kane when you don't yield anything on the season due to his injury and then moving him at the draft for probably less than what you gave up doesn't make sense to me.

14 goals, 36 points, Conn S. Down to the Flyers, primary assist on the Fedotenko goal that started the comeback from 0-3, the tying goal from Sarge? Then there's 'the goal'.

Malkin: Overtime PPG in Game 5 against Washington. Points in all games. I'll never forget the play he made to Letang to go up 4-0 in Game 7. It was all over. Sid and Ovie played as good a series as a player can; still, it's not as though Malkin took a break.

Carolina? Complete domination. You've granted me Eastern and Cup Final.

I'm not sure if you understand how the cap works. The only cap relief we would get is from who ever we ship out. If Buff wanted prospects and picks for Kane we'd still be maxed out.....not a chance they'd want sutter or Kunitz to help our cap situation

The same thing has been said about Pessonon, Tangradi, BB, etc...Just put him with Malkin! The statement is getting old.
