Top 2 lines look very good, 4th is ok. But 3rd is responsible for at least half of Detroits chances. Beau has been invisible - willi
Make that 70% of Detroits chances |

I hear he is in very good shaped right now, especially cardio from a friend who knows one of the trainers. |

It would be better for the pens if he just took a job in the front Office.. it would help out with Cap and ave age of team. I would hate for him to come back and get hurt again and pens aren't able to pick up someone in free agency |

Good game from the Pens, never thought Comeau would be the X factor.
Crosby apparently doesn't want to score goals anymore! Shoot the Puck!
BB sucks and should be looking for a new career. He lined up a guy from behind and still took the worst of it. |

Good win when you factor 4-1 over the wings, 0 pts between 87 and 71.
Still gotta score on the PP. ITs getting bad. |

The trickle down effect so hard on this team once the top 6 gets properly rounded out huh?
Need to resign Comeau, 3 years, 5 mil total might be feasible since this is his only good season.
Downie is another I'd like to keep at about the same pay as Comeau as well. Both really have earned it so far this season.
Another thing I liked that I heard (forget who said it in the cast), is that the Pens organization/coaches have been working with Downie to stop taking the penalties and focus on playing hockey. |

Glad to hear that, but I assumed no less. Cardio is about the only thing you can properly/intensely do while on the blood thinner medication for that. If he comes back for the playoffs, hes going to be a rampaging wrecking ball. |

Guys refuse to shoot. Sid passed up a couple of great chances. Letang too. It must be driving Tochett nuts. |

Who ever is coaching Downie on not taking penalties may want to make a career change. Leads the league by alot. I like him when he stays focused but even tonight the refs had to warn hin after he took tgat questionable penalty

From the way I heard it, it was just the last week or two they started getting on him about it. If hes extended here, we'd likely see results next season. |

When healthy why hasn't Erhoff been used on PP more? He has a shoot first mentality

Power play sucked ass for the reasons you noted. They move the puck around well, but pass up good shots. There were some out there to take. A few missed opportunities.

I remember I was so in different with the Comeau signing. Thought he would be an improvement on the fourth line though. Never did I ever think he would click with Malkin on the second. Dude has 12 goals and if not for the 20 games missed, he could have 20+. He is one of the best bargains in the NHL.
No, Crosby only cares about passing. He missed several opportunities again.
Bennett ... healthy scratch in Ottawa hopefully. Engo at forward was more exciting to watch.

No he's correct on the LTIR. That's why pitt had so much cap space the year they got Iggy, morrow etc. Injuries to high salary players - willi
That is completely different than what he said. Morrow, Iginla, and Murray were not on LTIR when the Pens traded for them. |

So true haha.
The game was a lot of fun to watch I thought. Second line played quite well. Maybe Hornqvist can work with Malkin after all...Spaling may have been what held them back.
I will say one negative thing. I think we need a competent 3rd liner. Spaling-Sutter-Bennett were awful |
|
|
|
Poor Bennett. You could tell he was asked to be more gritty and looked lost. It's like telling Datsyuk to go be physical. To be clear, not comparing the talent, just the styles. |
|

|
last thing in the mini-rant..
I'm more convinced than ever Sutter is the guy that should be traded.
Still love Sutter and Dumo/Harrington for Petry and Pakarinen deal the most...
Other options we've discussed that I like:
Spaling for Bergenheim
Bennett (+?) for Brett Connolly or Marcus Foligno could work too
I think D is fine with Ehrhoff back. |
