Bruins are gonna be terrifying when they trade Lucic to Ottawa for both Bobby Ryan and Jared Cowan 漏Cape Breton Bruins

I don't think that's how one evaluates a 6th DMan.
- hscesq

Maybe not, but that's how you evaluate if you need help or depth. Injuries happen all the time. Habs have been lucky so far, but that could change.

Same way Weise might have done a good job, but it doesn't mean Bergevin should not add some depth up front.

edit : same reason why Tokarski is here over Budaj. If Price goes down, he's a better option.

On which part? Not that i think that i'm always right, but i just wonder what you like in Gilbert's game. The Habs are ready for a long run this year, and improving the 3rd pairing seems like a must to me and fact is, Emelin has really upped his game lately so.

I don't like his game, per se. The issue is, he's a 6th DMan with puck moving abilities, whose minutes will likely be around 12:00-14:00 per game maximum, down the stretch and in the playoffs.
- hscesq

True, but every game i see him on the PP and on the PK, not sure i want him in those situations come playoffs time...

Speaking of players on the decline...
- Pecafan Fan

Well, they won't get Yandle. Might come cheap and it would be depth.

Gonchar is on the decline as well, but he is still helping. Was not even playing with the Stars.

Obvioulsy the asking price is MB concern, but i really doubt he has to give a king's ransom for a guy like Petry or Michalek. Wouldn't mind a top 6 RW but not a rental, it would have to be a hockey trade.
- Habsody

You think petry is better than Gilbert?

How about his size. The guy might wake up in the playoffs.

ICYMI last night on Insider Trading, we reported BUF pushing hard to entice WPG into trading Evander Kane now as opposed to later (summer).

...If BUF opts to put Tyler Myers into the equation, it will get very interesting for WPG. Anyway, BUF is aggressively pursuing.

Yeah, now that he's on the IR, he won't thwart their tanking plan

4th line just turned legit with Thomas, De La Rose and Bournival...maybe some scoring.

Where does PAP go when he's back?

I think these two will rotate once PAP is back...which is a good thing since both are produce nothing. On the positive, they are not hurting the team... they just can't seem to buy a goal.

I hope the Habs don't crap the bed against these two opponents. Aside from Detroit and the Blues, all the other games in February are against teams that will miss the playoffs. A unique chance to get ahead of Detroit/Tampa.
- TimBits

i think they will be OK vs. Edmonton but Toronto is always a 50-50 game no matter how good or crappy either team is. although the Leafs do seem to be adding more tires to the fire every day...

i thought last night was one of Montreal's best games of the season. not a great first but we've seen worse. but those final 40 minutes were a game of keep away. 90 shot attempts and a + 46 SA ratio (against someone other than Buffalo) is ridiculous and when you can direct that much rubber at the net you're doing a lot of good things. the shot attempts recently have been encouraging. it's nice to see the opposing goaltender pressured a bit.

not offensive but he is 6'5", physical and would be very useful come playoffs time to clear garbage in front of Price
