Yeah, don't fight RJ Umberger

Cant lose a player with his kind of versatility.

Even if he was, it's hard for me to believe that the check he threw would have been a legal hit.

Coby is 6'5" around 220, Rino's about 5'11" probably around 190. That's a lot of force Rinaldo has to generate him to knock out a player of that size. Even if he got a good hit on a guy that size, it's more likely to effect him than the other player. That being said, Rino could have been moving full speed and Coby standing still.

But right now, I'm just speculating.

- VladDrag

Well, it didn't say he knocked him out cold. Probably just sent him down to the ice, which Rinaldo (with clean hits) has done to guys like Doughty before.

Still, I wouldn't want Rinaldo to be the guy testing a player coming off of injury.

So now Rinaldo is laying out his teammates with hits in practices. He knocked Coburn flat today. They need to jettison this piece of donkey feces
- Jsaquella

I want Rinaldo in the AHL, but without seeing the hit I won't rip him for it. Coburn has a history of not knowing where he is on the ice. Like when he knocked Mason down in an actual game.

It's that fine line with Rinaldo: No, you don't want to rip the guy. And guys get hit in practice. But is anyone stunned that particular player is involved In something like that, where your own guy gets trucked?

He was trying to earn a 2-year extension.

@JSportsnet: Hearing that Steve Mason's arthroscopic surgery took place this morning.
- Jsaquella

So uhhh...any more info? What was the procedure?

Or was it just to look around..

Nothing was worse than when Lindros ran into Coffey. Ruined what was left of him.

I mean, here's the thing: If someone walked up to you and said "Player X got laid out by Player Y in practice today. Solve for Player Y."

Don't you come up with Zac Rinaldo?

I do. I'll rip him regardless, because I hate him. I'm absolutely biased in my opinion of him. I'm embarrassed that he's a Flyer

Thank god they put Simmonds on a line with couturier and read. I have a good feeling about that line.

Tibbets was a scum bag, but probably had more hockey sense than Rinaldo.

Well, you sank your hockey knowledge with that miss. Their sense is the same:

The Hatcher on Lupul hit was pretty bad too. Lupul was so jacked up he was smiling and had a creepy hysterical look about him.

Good god he is terrible.

He's said some very questionable stuff on air. Can't see him lasting long tbh.

- hereticpride

Andy Bloom LOVES him. Compares him to Stern to some extent. Talking to Bloom about him was like talking to a brick wall. he isn't going anywhere any time soon.

I tried to give him benefit of the doubt. He wore out his welcome last season when his penalties taken outnumbered his penalties drawn. The experiment should've been over then.

I can't understand being that anti Mez. He did some really good stuff when he was effective. Granted, he was pretty bad the last year and a half of his tenure, but I don't think he deserved to be hated.

Not in Philly. But Buffalo fans must wonder why they are paying $4 million for him.

You're right he has. For a guy with average size, he really knows how to generate a lot of force.

Also, I mis read the original post. I read it as knocked flat out, which was a mistake on my part.
