if cooter had half the offensive skill richards had he'd be a great player
- 2Real

Lol richards averaged almost 50% offensive zone starts compared to coit's 30%

The problem is everyone else is still playing games too and they're not all going to start dropping games.

Add in the fact Mase is out for a big stretch and its extremely unlikely we do anything but climb a few spots everyone will forget about in a few years time.

This could get very interesting. Next 4 games is Columbus, Buffalo, Columbus, Buffalo. That needs to be 8 points to make this whole scenario realistic.

They're absolutely talented to make the playoffs.

They haven't done that for the majority of the season though.

- KGBflyers10

sure, they're talented enough to MAKE the playoffs ... but not talented enough to make any noise once they get there.

I'm rooting for them to go down swinging. I don't think they can make the playoffs. But I don't want to see them die, either. There's enough pieces on the current roster that could be here in the future, when the team is better. Laying down to die leads to bad habits and apathy.

They're not bad enough to end up with McDavid or Eichel without winning the lottery.

- Jsaquella

Exactly!

I'd rather see them try to make the playoffs than to just give up. I trust them drafting in the 1st round regardless.

90 percent of that roster is going to be back next season

If they poop the bed for the next 28 games, there is no reason to believe they won't next season either

- AllInForFlyers

Right?

If they play like a bunch of losers now, fold, one player isn't going to infuse them with a backbone

sure, but that's clearly the exception ... nearly every time a mediocre team makes the playoffs they're eliminated in short order.

Who had played quite well with Kimmo.

I know they have their holes but is a defense of
kimmo-Coburn
delzotto- Grossmann (schenn)
Streit-Mcdonald

Is that so bad? As long as the forwards play responsible hockey I don't think it is

no secondary scoring and a goalie who seems to be bitten by the injury bug.

If they can get six or seven of the next eight points, they will have given themselves a clearer picture of what is possible

The math is horrible for them, but they have to get four from Buffalo and at least split with the Jackets

At least put yourself in position to make up ground

28 games to change that.
24-14-17 looked really good again tonight.
read finally got a goal, maybe he's finally healthy.
Mason should be healthy following this surgery.

I'm gonna have to see more than one goal every blue moon for me to think that Read is back.

With the next 4 games against buffalo and columbus it's a perfect opportunity to see if they can make a run.

I'm just saying. He's been close the past couple of games. He's looked better on the pk, he finally broke through and scored. I'm hoping the high ankle sprain is behind him.

I'm a glass half full kinda guy.

5-0-2 in their last seven, splitting points with the conference leader and the other division leader

Only in Philadelphia is that viewed as failure, with 28 games left in the season

Guess they should stop playing the (frank)ing games once you fall behind

- AllInForFlyers

seriously.

and even if they go on a great run and fall just short, people can say what they want, but if they want THIS core of guys to succeed, that experience is absolutely invaluable to the coots, schenns, laughtons, ect.

as long as my glass contains alcohol I don't really care if it's half or empty just make sure there's alcohol in it.

you know, I respect that ... I really do. I'm generally that kind of guy as well.

But this particular Flyers team just jumps out at me as being a very mediocre bunch in dire need of a serious overhaul by Hexy.

I simply can't get my hopes up for an extended playoff run until Hexy redesigns this team. As it is now, I just can't see it ... as much as I want to.
