As a layman who has had knee issues, I'm guessing the repeated MRIs would likely have revealed an ACL or MCL issue. I'm hoping whatever the case, it's a shorter term injury for Mason.

Actually meniscus or other loose bodies seems reasonable, as I read this morning he's had three knee surgeries since 2008.

How about the poor play that got the player scratched. Does that reduce the players trade value?
- psuhockey

When and if Timonen and Coburn come back, the Flyers will have 8 bona fide NHL defenseman, not including Colaiacovo. Players who have played well, are going to have to sit. If Luke Schenn is scratched to make room for another player to enter the lineup, it won't be about poor play. It will be about numbers. Other NHL GM's are smart enough to figure that out.

yes I think the MRI should show all those things, but the team may be keeping it to themselves.

It's amazing that despite all the points lately, they still haven't been able to get any closer in the standings. The teams they're chasing for the wildcard have all gone 6-3-1 in their last 10 as well.

No worries! They've gained ground on the bottom feeders! Worse draft pick!

Nonsense. We all know the superstars like Claude Giroux and Pavel Datsyuk, not to mention elite defensemen like Shea Weber and PK Subban, are all top-5 draft picks.

That's fine. #10 is just as likely to pan out as any other first round pick.

Isn't there some cursed pick, maybe like #16 or something, where it's mostly AHL players and/or NHL/AHL tweeners?

Just as likely?

edit: I get it. Still, I think a top 10 pick is statistically more likely to be a better player, especially in this upcoming draft.

You can check here.

15th looks pretty poor over the last 20 years to me, apart from Karlsson. And to a lesser extent Zubrus and Pulock.

Where are the odds better at finding superstars? Out of the top 20 scorers in the league, 13 were chosen in the top 11 and 11 of those were chosen in the top 5.
