Nah, seems like a nice guy. I'll probably have to go with your guy than. - mayorofangrytown
I never used to pay attention to the individual refs back when Stewart was a ref, but the comments Auger made to Burrows (deserved or not) and his subsequent actions, were beyond "bad" and bordered on predetermining the game before it was played.

Yeah, I remember that vividly. I was following the Canucks heavily then.
I remember paul writing in a blog that he wouldn't give Eric the benefit of the doubt on penalty calls because of that situation and to me he should never have officiated another game that eric played in going forward if he couldn't separate the personal from professional. - twotoekenn
I had forgotten that, and you're right it's pretty bad.
I just find some of the stuff he says (i.e." When people ask me which team is my favorite, I say all of them because that's how I feel.") to be completely self-serving to show how great and unbiased he was, then he goes and says stuff like never giving Lindros the benefit of the doubt. It's actually sad.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Burrows, but the dude had a chance to be the first player ever to score a hat trick in back-to-back-to-back games, and Auger decided that he was having none of that.

My only real issue with him is how he seems to feel a constant need to show how tough/manly/courageous/moral of a guy he has always been. Which is fine from time to time, but when you're ripping other people in an attempt to show how much better you are, it makes for bland reading. - jmatchett383

Someone else might remember was Stewart the ref when 88 got the penalty on the opening face off against the devils way back when?

yeah, I had to stop reading his blogs. It was fun at first, what with calling out Milbury and all, but he just kept going with the call outs and the go trips.

Yeah, some of the call outs seem kind of random but I still enjoy reading his blogs.
