The results point to Despres doing well after he left.

MJ has been here for 50 odd games, not sure what you want but Dan couldn't develop talent for 5 years.

- usethe1-2-2

I want MJ to be good. not enough time has passed yet to tell. Please be good. Like I said... benching BB is a great start. send him back to WBS for primetime play. His growth was stunted by his injuries... make up that time. send DP back as soon as erhoff is healthy. give him prime time play.
What to top talent did dan have to work with... Maatta developed nicely. BB was hurt. despres he got developed.
angelo esposito? traded. not rushing harrington / dumo / etc. look back at the drafts when he was here. busts... not on him. mostly.

I believe Winnipeg would entertain that Dumolin/Bennett package for E. Kane that was proposed yesterday.

Playoff bound every season with a bad bottom six and poor goaltending, but yah it was his leadership...

goaltending in the reg season always good. bottom siz wasnt always bead.. just recently.

it says something that the only time we had a cup was with guerin in the room

hossa bolts
iginla, a man respected league-wide, bolts

I thought Horny and Sid clicked pretty well early in the season. Seemed like a perfect fit to me.

Lets break this down though. Everyone is saying this is Rossi being Rossi. But....

1. Sid still, after 9 seasons, cant figure out how to play with Malkin.
2. Sid didn't mesh immediately with Hossa (took about 10 games or so). And, they never really clicked.
3. Couldn't mesh at all with Sykora.
4. Sid didn't mesh at all with James Neal. Neal can skate. Great shot. No reason why that shouldn't have worked on paper.
5. Sid didn't mesh with Iginla. Seemed like a perfect match.
6. Now, apparently, Sid cant play with Horny? Once again, no reason on paper why this shouldn't work. Guerin wasn't a fast guy and he clicked pretty well with him.

Sid and Geno play really well together, Him and Hossa were unreal in that playoff, Sykora was old, Neal immediately went with Geno and the concussion issues kept him with geno, Iggy and Sid meshed in Vancouver, it seems like pure speculation to me.
I think this is Rossi being Rossi and he is following the same narrative of Sid being picky.

Keep in mind, Rossi is a known Crosby hater. Wasn't it rumored that Sid had Rossi banned for a few games from the locker room?

Rossi bugs the sh!t out of me, could you imagine that turd sticking his mug in your face after every game.....especially after bad games?

Maatta came pre-developed. He never played a game in this system prior to his NHL start. Dan did nothing to develop him.

Yah, it says that it is hard and you have to be pretty lucky health wise. There is nothing wrong with Sid. Or Geno.

i doubt thats true. he kept him up when it was obvious he was a rare exception. paired him with the appropriate d-men. slowly fed him more time.... sounds like he didnt fail to develop him to me

no knocking sid as a great player... Mario was one of the bests and he was similarly picky... he only won 2 cups. It is hard. You will never find an argument here for that. I am grateful we got one cup with geno/crosby... anther would be icing. But to say nothing is wrong when so many red flags are up over the years... there is being cautious to judge and then there is ostrich with its head in the ground... fine line sometimes

Meanwhile, Malkin...

1. Won the Playoff MVP with Feds and Talbot riding shotgun.
2. Meshed immediately with Staal during Staal's rookie year in which he put up 29 goals.
3. Meshed immediately with Sykora and Malone.
4. Crushed it with Neal.
5. Crushing it this season with a revolving door of linemates including Kunitz, Horny, Spaling, Sutter, Arco..Doesn't matter. 71's producing.

Hmm...just sayin.....

- 87_71_11_29

Where is the news that Sid can't mesh with Horny now? I thought this was just HCMJ doing more of his line shuffling stuff?

Also... thought Neal was just for Malkin, and wasn't meant to mesh with Sid?

Maatta was actually a huge gift that dropped down to us at 22. We already picked DP at #8 and couldn't pass Maatta up at #22 for a forward..

Staal, Nash and Mcdonagh are next hopefully. Maybe then they can get a taste of what we go through yearly. We'll see how far they drop

Ummmm Sid and Hossa were sick in the playoffs. Both were hurt on and off the remainder of the season that year.

Neal can't skate at all, he's pretty bad.

Sid, basically beat the caps alone in the playoffs, solid against Philly, and Malkin stole the show against the Canes who brought nothing. 87 was shut down vs the Wings. I mean Talbot had 2 goals in gm 7. Come playoffs Neal was crushing the penalty box more than anything. Reg season they were on fire, playoffs not so much.

Bottom line, Rossi was booted from the Pens and is a joke as a writer.

Ummm... as much as I'd enjoy the irony and removal of them as competition, I don't wish injuries that often.

There is no doubt he would have been great but the past is the past. You could have traded Forsberg for Erat

Forsberg, Boone Jenner, Ty Rattie, ROR, Brock Nelson, Saad, all F's that the Pens missed on for Dmen that are still trying to make it to the club.
