Really enjoying the PR campaign launched on the 4th line. Goc was not good in that role. Lappy seems to be more of a Sill, Adams type of guy.

I'm not buying it yet, but if this group is being touted as a line that knows its under scrutiny and are determined to prove the haters (which is a lot) wrong.

I'm all for it. Just don't suck...that is their role and block the hell out of shots on the PK.

- Sell My Monkey

well you got to think that between bennett eventually being restored to the lineup and comeau coming back that at least one of sill and adams will head to the press box.

Why would Winnipeg trade him for junk now? Nothing against Bennett and Dumoulin, but the aren't fair value for Kane.

The only reason to rush to trade him now, would be to get rid of the lockerroom issue, but with surgery, that is done for you.

In the summer, a healthy Kane will be worth more, and the character stuff will die down some.

Winnipeg needs to make the playoffs this season. The scrutiny has never been more harsh. They've singled this guy out in the midst of their push and could come across as, at least temporarily, having the last laugh... The only way Kane helps them make the playoffs is if he's traded for players who presumably would contribute now.

I posted last night on Tanners blog - Kane is a cancer (if the story is true that the players have tried to straighten him out), & the team is inconsistent. Part of inconsistency probably/may have to do with what is going on with Kane. Trade him now for immediate help which in turn should help make the jets more consistent.

I called it the 'crap stat'. Guys like Kane causing problems with good teams dragging them down - better cutting ties & reducing the 'crap stat' that the team has!

Great game last night, excellent puck management in all zones. Very good north and south aggressive play to the net. All lines looked respectable. Having Malkin back takes some heat off Sid. Perron is a solid player, very talented with the puck and can distribute it well as well as solid hands around the net.

The game last night was the old Sid. Damn, I missed that guy.

Quick to the puck. Jump in his legs. Energy. Enthusiastic.

The guy we saw last night was the difference in him looking good on all of RW's charts and graphs vs looking absolutely dominant in game play.

Hopefully, the start of things to come for him. We can talk 4th line, depth scoring, young D, etc.. all we want. If 87, 71, and 29 don't produce in a big way, none of that other stuff matters.

2 very well played games. Hopefully, they can start to round into shape here and start exhibiting good habits.

F that i only talk 4th line. Talking about skilled players is boring. Its like saying Martin for Kane? For months on end.

Girl youre going to cry when they do trade him lol

Continue to be a die hard pens fan, root for Kunitz except when they play the pens.

Observations

Crosby and Sutter both played solid gams.

Pens really missed Malkin and we should stop discussing trading him as its 1) not happening and 2) Pens will never get equal value

Kane will be moved in the summer... Unless the Pens are willing to part with young d men (Depres or Pouliot... NOT Harrington or Dumo), include Bennett or perhaps Kapenen in the deal its not happening... Other teams will offer more...

Letang is a Norris candidate... not saying he ll beat out Weber.... Lets put to rest this notion that he s a 2-3 d man

Scuderi is not terrible.... I understand that he s not worth his cap hit... However, with Maatta out for the season and the uncertainty of the MARTIn/ Hoff situations moving forward... he going NO WHERE even if the pens can move him (and I suspect they can if they wanted to)

Missed the game, just watched the highlights but its amazing how much more time and space 87 gets when there are more than 1 capable lines to roll out.

Congrats to MAF!

The more BB is a healthy scratch the more his trade value is sinking! Is it really necessary to play CFA and Sill over him at this moment in time?

Funny that - Letang gets the assist but Scuds gets the +1 for the goal after changing with Letang before the goal scored. Things like that don't help the stats people & I know you can say +- is a joke. But it's a joke that still counts on the NHL stats!

It's things like that that make +/- a joke, that no one should take serious.

I'm all for moving BB and Suttard, as long as we don't add too much salary back. Can run with this in to the playoffs given everybody is healthy, plus Dupes is hoping to be back so that might be an added bonus or just make up for unforeseen injury.
Kunitz - Crosby - Perron
Comeau - Malkin - Hornqvist
Trade - Spaling - Downie
Arcobello - Lapierre - Adams/Sill
Also, I am curious if they are soured on Hoff or actually making a midseason negotiating pause

Trading good young players on ELC's isn't smart. He will be back and he will be fine.

That part is yet to be determined. A few highlights, and a stretch of benchings with 2 coaches suggests otherwise.

ABSOLUTELY NOT soured on Ehrhoff. We were misled and over assuming he would resign mid season. Its been twice said by Ehrhoff/HisAgent that they want to talk after the season. Its not them being sour or us, its just how some people want to operate business wise.

No, he is good. Complete? That part has yet to be determined. You don't give up on talent like that. You work with it and take your time. He has shown consistently he is a possession player who generates offense. His game will come full circle.
We can't just keep trading incomplete players because we think they won't be good. Work with him, mold him, make him the type of player you want in your system.

I feel Ehroff has been a bit buried in the system getting mid minutes. Not much top PP or shutdown time. If he resigns for 5 or below great, anything above 5.5 I would say thanks and move on. 47 is really starting to shine and is a top 4. Scuds is bad, but there are worse bottom 6 Dmen out there. Its his cap hit that is the killer.

The fact that 2 coaches would rather have Glass, Adams, Sill, Ebbett in the lineup when scoring is an issue is telling. I would love BB to be great and prove his potential, but what 3 or 4 games in a row being scratched, something is going on.

I'm not sure how big of a PP player he really is or was. 2 seasons with Vancouver he put up some nice points (44 and 50), and the season before 42. Beside that, hes not touched 35 or higher in his career.
His shut down defensive abilities are top tier, I think we need need a healthy top 4 offensive defensman to pair with him and he will flourish. The Maatta injury has hindered him some here, which might end up in our favor in possibly resigning him for a smidge less.

Also, BB's game is way too soft to be a playoff performer. That was proven last year. He has a good shot, some hands, but not a grinder, can't battle, thats where fancy stats lose their merit.

He has a canon of a shot, he can skate well, i never followed him much before. If I had my choice Ehroff>Martin.
