I like the idea of trading Beau, but I've never liked him much.
You could probably get the same deal done with Vancouver trading Sutter and Harrington/Dumoulin.

Yah, there are pretty much only two camps on Beau. Going to be Great or Just Get Rid Of Him.

I wouldn't mind the deal, but I'm all for Sutter to Florida for Bergenheim plus draft compensation. Then mid prospect for Winnik. I think a Bergy-Winnik-Beau third line could be a game breaker in the playoffs.
And of course a Lappy-Spaling-Downie line as your 4th could cause hell.

What kind of draft compensation would you be looking for from Florida? I dont see them biting on Sutter, they dont need centers and Sutters "leadership" doesnt trump Bollands.

Sutter to the Leafs could definitely happen theyre dying for centers and leaders, but they dont have anyone available that I would want other than Winnik.

Doesnt really matter, Sutter will not be traded.

Toronto is interesting. They are looking trade Santorelli and could use another center. Maybe Sutter for Winnik plus a second.

But yah he's going nowhere

Santorelli has much better value than Sutter does. You would probably have to look at Sutter + Harrington for Santa and Winnik. That might get it done

Im just looking at the Salary situation.
Sutter + Bennett = 4.2
Kassian + Matthias = 3.5

I honestly dont know much about Winnik, but Matthias is 6'4 @ 225lbs with wheels. I just want a bigger presence on the third line, if Winnik brings that then Im all for him.
Its just Kassian and Matthias are both signed for next year as well, so we wouldnt be trading a signed player for a rental.

I like the parameters of this deal. About done waiting on brittle Bennett. I dont think we necessarily lose scoring. We get bigger n tougher to play against. People stop running out players opening up lanes for the studs. We got scoring when we got perron n horny now can we please get them on the same line

Hope he ends up with the Penguins. We'd just need another Big guy to elevate our team.

As crappy as the Pens have been playing it should be noted that nobody in the division is getting much traction. Seems like everyone has been inconsistent lately. Isle lose again tonight.

With Geno back it would be nice to string 3 or 4 wins together.

Don't kill the monthly countdown to trade deadline buzz! haha

Geno, and potentially Comeau sooner than expected. It's what weve all been waiting for...a look at a (mostly) healthy lineup...sans Ehrhoff in which details have been scarce.

I think the panic is a little funny considering the major injuries we've had. Have the Isle even won a game since Okposo went down? You can't lose such significant players and expect the team to just shrug it off.

I was looking at the the "Game's Lost" data... Pens are #4. It's interesting. Out of the top 18 teams in games lost, only 7 are still in a playoff spot. Out of the remaining 12 (lowest in games lost) 9 are in playoff position.

Replacing NHL players with AHL players matters. A lot.

just thinking out loud...what if Ehrhoff is on LTIR until after the deadline...does that give us the cap space freedom to make basically any move we want? no cap for the playoffs, right? but when does that kick in? am i completely wrong?

Im done with BB. Im sorry but if you have an injury history like that, and the opportunity to step up with all the injuries and you get a healthy scratch, there is a work ethic problem.

I know nothing of Kassian, Matthias, or Winnik or really any other option for a bottom 6, i dont have the time to follow the rest of the league, but BB has no service on the Pens. I would have taken Goc over Sutter just for cap reasons, but even that isnt saying much.

oh and speaking of AHL players...scott wilson with 7 goals in his last 11GP. i have no hopes for the guy at the NHL level but good to see him upping his "throw-in" trade value

I'm the wrong guy to talk about how the cap works, but if Hoff came back to play before the playoffs (which I assume he will), they'd be in trouble taking on another salary.

From all I've read, they are right up against the cap. They'll need to send out salary to make a substantial addition by the TDL.

I assumed that was the case...I had no clue just wondering if there was some cap circumventing we could do...thats why Botterill gets paid the big bucks

I'm trying to think about a trade scenario here but can't find a reasonable one. If I could bet, E.Kane would most likely go to Philly before coming to us Philly has B.Schenn and Read to work with on a trade. Sutter and Bennett haven't been exactly what we expected this year so we can't compare both to the Former two.
