Remembrance Day is a stat holiday. Because it was a Saturday this year, places took either the Friday or the Monday off.

Looks like the majority of places chose Monday.

We ship 3 trucks on Mondays and none on Fridays, so...

Statutory?

They call them Bank Holidays in the UK. Dunno what you people call them. Probably nothing because you don't even have federally mandated maternity leave.

Well, this week, the Trudeau government made good on it's pledge to extend parental leave from 12 months to 18 months.

If S2TP moves to Canada and has ST5P/6P/7P he should be able to have enough time off to take him to retirement..

Federally mandated. Everybody gets it off regardless. If you don't get it off you're required to be paid OT for the day.

You've hired folks though, right? Do you not have federally mandated holidays?

people who work in service industries have extra busy days on these smaller holidays, we add extra staff

my store closes thanksgiving, xmas, nyd and 4th of july (my full-timers get paid for those but i don't believe that it's legally required that we do that)

i think if we were open those days we'd have to pay time and a half, but all these smaller holidays are different?

just looked it up, private employers are not required to pay anything for time not worked, including holidays. it's up to the employers.

Interesting.

Up here we have 10 days per year (varies by province, Ontario and Quebec especially) where employees are required to be paid whether they work or not.

get paid time and a half if they work on any of those days.
