sure they could. odds are they won't. there are two groups of pregnant women. ones that talk about constantly and make you sorry you ever had sex. or the second who while they will speak about it, it far from the only conversation they wish to have.

so yes, they are in the first group.

fyi. it doesn't get any better after they have the kid.

i can tell it isn't gonna get better because the one yenta goes on and on about her existing little devil.

"as soon as we get in the car he says "botta, botta!" (conveyed in super douche-chill-inducing baby talk voice).

because no baby has ever asked for their bottle before.

what i am looking forward to is the peace and quiet of them taking some time off after extraction.

It's important out here to learn early how valueless life truly is so that it's easier to end out of sheer boredom.

it seems to be a company by company thing in new jersey.

this company probably gives them a good amount of time. family run deal and they seem pretty good to their employees. besides, they're clearly non-essential personnel as they routinely come down and spend 45 minutes talking to the receptionist and/or anybody that will listen without anybody ever asking why they aren't at their desk working.

US is (frank)ed up with maternity leave, IMHO.

Employers must give their employees a maximum 12 weeks UNPAID leave (basically just guaranteeing they still have a job).

When s3tp was born my wife took 8 weeks off because that was all we could manage without her being paid.

s4tp she was able to take the full 12 weeks because we planned ahead and she got a short term disability plan

that's nuts.

here the mother gets 6 months maternity, the govt sends a percentage of their salary but most companies top it off so income stays the same.

father gets same deal for paternity but for 5 weeks (although most won't take the full time, I only took a couple of weeks for each)

then there's another 6 months of parental leave which basically either parent is allowed to take or they can split or whatever but there's a smaller percentage of your salary that is guaranteed but most moms end up taking that so they're off for a year and the financial hit is not too bad.

of course it is. can't cut into the shareholders' profits.

most have to use accrued vacation time or paid sick leave if a company even offers such a thing.

yeah my wife had to use all her vacation time. We have a beach vacation scheduled in October and she will have just enough time saved up to go. So if she gets sick and has to take a day we're (frank)ed

unless you are lucky enough that your parents are still young enough to watch them during the day. even once they get to school age, you're (frank)ed unless you are lucky enough to have family/close friend who can watch them until you can pick them up.

We are fortunate enough to have her mother watch them during the day. We still pay her a fair amount but it's less than what it would cost to take them both to a daycare.

I used to buy groceries for my parents because they wouldn't take money from me. I used to have "steal" my Dad's car for crazy reasons to put gas in once in awhile because they took them to and from school when they were in elementary school.

Separating new Mom's from their kid seems a bit heartless.
