For one they are all time greats, which makes them rarities in and of themselves.

Not saying Streit can't remain a good player until he's 40, just saying it's not a sure thing. If I geta chance to add a late 1st rounder and a prospect, plus clear $5.25mm in cap space to add a better option via UFA, I lean towards saying yes

- Jsaquella

Mark Streit is the second-best defenseman of his generation. First-ballot HOFer for sure.

Or, at least he's better than Cam Barker, who was taken 259 spots ahead of him.

would he be more like a ryan potulny type guy when he goes pro?
- rinaldo

Potulny remained more or less an offense-first player but just played at more of AHL pace than NHL pace. Parks isn't a bad two-way player and his skating isn't a minus but he is not gifted enough to be an offensive player in the NHL. I do think he has a shot at being a good utility player.

The Flyers seem to have a lot of "depth" forward prospects. Not a bad thing, as their top-6 players are fairly young (Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Couturier, Schenn, Raffl). I wonder how many of them are realistic strong possibilities to crack the NHL club full-time. Probably Leier and Cousins are the best bets right now.

Gonchar is a better comparison for Streit, and he got a new two year, $10m deal when he was already 39.

I'm not saying extend Streit, just that I won't be surprised if he keeps his current level of play up for the next two seasons and keeps going after that.

I personally wouldn't trade Streit, and I'm not worried about his play falling off.

He could probably keep scoring goals/points on PP1 into eternity if they keep playing like they have... holding up at ES is another question, tho.

This.

Ultimately it doesn't matter how long Streit keeps up his play. It will be at least two more seasons before were seriously contending. Sell high on Streit. You aren't doing that with anyone else.

If White plays well and Laughton is fit by then there's no room for him on the team. He was a healthy scratch for a while until Laughton got hurt.
- Feanor

I can't see how Ryan White doesn't take Zac Rinaldo's job at this point, unless somehow, Ryan White has even less hockey skill than Zac Rinaldo.

I've got no problem If they trade streit. If they can get a 1st + back go for it

Ryan White is a slightly better Adam Hall who can fight.

If there's a buyer out there, by all means, sell baby sell.

Pretty exciting that in just over a month the trade deadline will be here and we'll have a much better idea of what Hextall really thinks about this team.

I can assure you that he will make between 0-3 trades. Some will like the moves, most will hate the moves, and a small amount will complain about Rosehill.

Not sure about 'much better', but we may get a peek. I don't anticipate many moves.

If he does one of Streit AMac or Coburn and manages to pick up a few mid round picks by moving Emery, Carlo, Schultz or Rinaldo I think its a good deadline. No reason to stand pat with this team.
