If I can get a late (20-30) 1st rounder, plus a prospect or 2nd rounder, I'd consider it strongly. I love Streit, but he is 37
- Jsaquella

even though he is older he doesnt have a lot of hard mileage on his body. I dont see him fallignoff a cliff the way he plays. I think you can get that as he would help a legit contender imo.

he isnt part of any core going forward. you strike while the iron is hot. dont think you can ask much more of what streit has given you.

Even without the hard mileage, expecting him to remain good until age 40 is a risky bet. The other thing is, there's a lot of guys who age quickly, go from being really solid one year to looking washed up the next

Potulny was way more talented... but I believe Parks probably has a bit more viability as a bottom-six forward.
- Tomahawk

should have clarified i meant how their careers will end up. ryan had a few cups of coffee in the nhl though never really stuck. seen parks a few times so not the best person to comment on his game.

on a side note always liked potulny and ruzicka from that draft. would have liked to see ruzicka try the nhl again at some point a few years ago.

Billwould you move streit at the deadline? imo his value will never be higher. Now i dont give him away. He is the one assest I think can bring some very good players/picks back.

What do you think he would bring back in a trade?

- rinaldo

As good as a season as he's had on the PP, I really doubt there would be much interest in the term left on his contract from a capped out contender.

Those teams probably would rather go after pure rentals like Sekera, Franson, Zidlicky, Petry, etc.

sure it is risky though the way he plays I think it is less risky. I just dont see him falling off that cliff that fast. especially not next year. the last year of the deal who knows but def possible.

the extra year is a killer no doubt. time will tell. depends how desparate a team gets.

Ray Bouque and Nick Lidstrom played at high levels late in their careers. And really, how different are they from Streit?

I hope after Rinaldo's suspension he is either place on waivers or a scratch the rest of the season. As a fan, it would be an embarrassment to have him back on the ice wearing a Flyers uniform.
- Daveflyers36

It's not as bad as Billy Tibbetts, but yeah, Rinaldo is embarrassing. He's a subpar player, who hurts a team more than he helps. He's had 3 & a half seasons to figure it out and do more to lose his rep. His moronic comments after the Letang hit are why he's never going to get the benefit of the doubt with the refs.

From how he acted and what he said, if I'm a ref, I'm saying to myself, this clown doesn't get an inch.

Any thoughts about Ritchie coming home?

I'd rather lock up RJ long term.

You should be able to trade Streit next season, or the one after. There's no rush.

For one they are all time greats, which makes them rarities in and of themselves.

Not saying Streit can't remain a good player until he's 40, just saying it's not a sure thing. If I geta chance to add a late 1st rounder and a prospect, plus clear $5.25mm in cap space to add a better option via UFA, I lean towards saying yes

He wants to go to Florida, where he can work on his conditioning fighting the big fish year round.

Let's not throw around the word "forty" so loosely. He'll be 39 for another six months after his contract with the Flyers ends.

How is Streit any different than the hundreds of other guys who wheels did fall off in their late 30's?

I don't buy the "he came to the NHL late" argument. He was still playing hockey that entire time...

Per the beats, Mason on ice today, splitting a net with Zepp. Emery is likely starter.

Point remains, late 30's and early 40's hold no guarantee of a guy staying good.

Good. No need to rush anyone back from injury, especially not this season.

I think if they deal Streit it would be next season when we are sitting in this same position. Let him work with Ghost for awhile. The UFA for Dman in 2016 is looking pretty good
