He was a very loyal NJ player. He could've left for much more money a couple times but didn't. Something doesn't smell right here.

Who cares no more heart-breaking losses at the hands of him (especially in Philly). Like none, ever again.

Anybody know what Straka's two way game looks like?
- JonnyHammerstix

He's an offensive player who isn't really having a very good offensive year.

KJ McDaniels is viewed as one of the 5 best rookies this season

Jerami Grant is viewed as one of the 10 best rookies this season

Jordan McRae is the 2nd leading scorer in the Australian Basketball League and has a future in the NBA.

There other 2nd round pick from last year is playing in Europe and I don't know much about him.

The NBA is evolving now because of advanced stats. It's not all about getting 3 superstars together. It's about forming strong depth too. These 2nd rounders may never be All Stars, but they all look like starters or really good depth players moving forward.

- PhillySportsGuy

I don't think that really answers the question. That's just naming a few players. I don't follow the NBA that closely anymore, because the game is just unwatchable in my view. When I was following it, a 2nd round pick wasn't very valuable.
The question is really what are the odds of the Sixers getting a good player with one of those picks?

No question you can occasionally find something good in the second round but the perceived trade value from GM's across the league for second round picks is pretty small. But then again I don't follow the NBA so you would know better then me

Yes...that's why I bolded the specific part I was referencing. He may or may not continue to put up offensive numbers, I don't know. But I do know the neither MJL or myself have said to not move him for a good return, as opposed to the "move him for the bets offer you can get" crowd.
- jmatchett383

Fair.

But the 'move him for the best deal' crowd has some merit in their argument, as long as the deal doesn't mean bringing back overpriced bodies.

The team most likely will not be a contender for a few years, with or without Streit, so why carry his salary? Free it up. Give yourself an option to be able to address whatever may arise - FA's, trades, contract extensions, etc., through some much needed cap room?

Perhaps he'd be able to mentor Ghost, Sandheim, maybe Hagg later on, but that's a pretty expensive coach. Plus, I'm not so sure I'd want any of the kids to acquire any of his defensive faults either.

I don't think too bad. I think he's pretty responsible defensively.

On another note... does anybody realize Luke schenn is on a 3 game point streak?

I'd say it's about as valuable as an NHL 3rd-4th rounder. There will be a couple of diamonds in there, but mostly filler.

So, if the best offer they get for Streit at this year's TDL is (theoretically) a late 4th rounder, you'd do it?

Don't get me wrong, I understand the risks. I just think that he can still provide some value to this team moving forward, both on and off the ice. So I would be hesitant to just dump him.

Is there a single person that has said he has to be moved right now, for whatever the best deal is? I haven't back read, but it sure seems like most people who are in favor of moving Streit are saying to do it for a significant return, not saying to trade him just to do it.

Even those saying that his value will never be higher aren't saying that he needs to be dumped for a 3rd rounder

He wouldn't just be a coach, he'd still be a top scoring offensive defenseman. I don't agree that there is merit to "move him for the best deal". I see that as poor management. The Flyers shouldn't be giving any season away, including the next two years. If the Flyers can trade Streit at the deadline, then they can likely trade him later. His value and interest in him could also increase in the next few years.

Same here, so all of those 2nd round picks the Sixers are acquiring isn't something to get excited about.

i agree with his value will be as high later, but what if we were offered 1st round pick for him this year, especially with how stacked this draft class is supposed to be (along with flyers tending to draft well). Then would you do it?

There are people saying, more or less, that he has no value as a member of the team since we will not contend for years, so he should be moved for a (nondescript) return. It's the assets of that return and his perceived value as a member of the team next year and beyond that are the question.

if you held say the 12th overall pick this year. how many 4th rounders would it take you to move it?

Maybe not something to get excited about, but it's worth a shot if they're calling this season a wash. 1:50 is a better shot than 0:50.
