And this is why I kept voting MAF into the All-Star game..
Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh Penguins: Why do goaltenders even want to play in All-Star Games? I mean, honestly. Poor Fleury was lit up for seven goals in the second period for Team Foligno. Though he has been terrific this season for the Penguins, he was hung out to dry and told reporters afterward that it felt like the longest 20 minutes of his career. - mrhattrick27
Yay, I'm an All-Star!!! Now I get to go to the game and get lit up a like a Christmas tree for everyone else's amusement.
I agree, if you are a goalie, why would you want to put yourself through that? |

The lack of D was staggering even for an All-Star game. Seeing players just reach out their stick and not even more their skates was beyond the pale. |

Something very, uh, fishy about league's reluctance to push NYR-NYI back to Weds. NHL spokesperson says NBC has nothing to do with it. |

the roads are open in Nassau county, people are digging out, should be fine around 7. Not sure what is so fishy about it. I'd ask Brooks if he wasn't blocking me |

So, does anybody claim Mike Richards? I am going to say no, but if someone does, I am putting my money on Winnipeg. Indeed, if he doesn't get claimed, I think the Jets may work out a deal for him. |

I don't think so. Especially due to the fact that any team that picks him up will also suffer from the cap recapture penalty in full when he retires.
No team should do the Kings any favors here. |

I don't think he'll be claimed, but I do think he'll be traded to a team with Kings picking up some of the cap hit, maybe the Jets or Calgary |

The Kings are only able to retain 50% of the hit, which if they did, would put him a little under $3 million for the next five years. He's a winning player. Has won a Memorial Cup, the AHL Championship, Olympic Gold, two Stanley Cups, and an Eastern Conference Championship.
But, what a disasterous decision by the Kings, who had a get out of jail free card and didn't use it.

he really has played like crap this season, as has the whole Kings team.
Look at how bad Dustin Brown is doing. But, if they make the playoffs, I am sure they will be impossible to eliminate again. |

Question: Would you take him at half his salary for the next five years? It's such a hard question for me, because he could be a steal at that figure, but he could be done, which is weird because he isn't even that old. I am perplexed by Richards.

if they took Tanner Glass and a 6th round pick keeping 1/2 of Richards salary, I'd do it. |

Would they do it? And have almost $3 million in dead cap space on their books for the next 5 years? The two Cups does buy them a lot of rope.

I am guessing its Mental....after winning 2 cups in the last 4 years, maybe winning isn't as important to him in the regular season? Maybe he just doesn't want to turn it on. |

I still wouldn't do it, that's a bad contract for even 1/2, rather just play it out with Glass at $1.5 or send a pick with him just to clear space |

In a bubble that sounds great but I really think Glass can be moved elsewhere. Which in that case I'd rather have the $3M in space than Mike Richards. |

You know who is having a pretty solid year? Brad Richards. After a really slow start, he has 28 points in 44 games. Not bad production for $2 million. |

For the price not bad production at all but he's playing with Kane and those legs are not gonna last through another playoff run |

If the Rangers had the option of eliminating that contract and resigning him for at $2M per I'm sure they would have done it too... But for the hawks that was a no brainer. |

he doesn't have to play the point on the powerplay there which was definitely where he looks his worst last year |

No. Once he retires, we get hit with like $10M in dead cap space due to the cap recapture penalties for a couple years. |

I hope everyone survived that "Historic" Blizzard. I know there was one reported potential catastrophe of a dog that was momentarily lost in a wind-blown snow drift. His owner said "Kilo" an 8lb chihuahua, standing a mighty 11 inches at the ear tips, disappeared while outside doing his "business" only to emerge moments later, some 6 feet from where he was last seen. "The little guy looked like he'd been through a mini avalanche," added the very relieved owner. Governor Cuomo, at a press conference spoke of how his pre-emptive closing of all schools, subways & public transportation, all non-vital municipal services & local gov't agencies and a basic declaration of Martial Law with road travel restricted after an 11PM curfew, "was directly responsible for saving countless lives and only cost the State of NY about $42 million to give everyone the day off." Officials estimate that it may take the better part of today and possibly as long as early Wednesday morning for all NY'ers to dig out from as much as 10 inches of snow before we can all expect things to get back to normal. |
