I doubt many others would. Unless they're penguins fans.

Aside from Brandon Sutter's lone 40 point season with the Canes, Goc and Sutter's numbers are very similar. They both hover around 20-30 points a season.
- j.boyd919

Not really. Career wise, Goc has scored 15 more points than Sutter in 146 more games.

Agree on this. Once the injury bug is up hopefully they will be bounced.

I recognize the injury bug as a huge complication to figuring out how good we are and where our weakness really lies. Personally, I don't think we need another winger once the team is back, because I don't see where one would go once we are healthy, or next season depending on their contract.

Perron - Crosby - Horny
Kunitz - Malkin - Comeau/Bennett
Downie - Sutter - Bennett/Comeau (I don't care which is with who, both work well).
Spaling - Goc - Adams.
Arco in the booth.

Next season, that lineup can be retained very easily, the only moving parts are all low cap hits, and with Martin (and possibly Ehrhoff) leaving, we have the space to resign them for a bit more. These players being Goc, Downie, and Comeau. RFA and AHLs being in Dumolin, Bennett, Bortuzzo, and hell, even new guy Arco.

Now, input Dupuis to that... somewhere. Obviously, Adams is gone... so most likely Downie or Comeau to the 4th line.

The HELL would another winger that we trade for go if they are here into next season? I don't want us to build an extra winger or two into the assumption we will get more players hurt. Can't keep getting this unlucky injury wise, its impossible.

And this isn't even factoring in Rust or Farnham, who I think most of us would say are ready to take 4th line duties next season after being up with our limited roster.

McDonagh - Girardi
Staal - Boyle

Not really a debate. Maatta is good but he's no Girardi or Staal yet. Probably not even Klein.

Goc plays in a much more defensive role and still produced. Better shot differential while on the ice as well. When he plays the Pens shot suppression goes up. Since coming here he played with Adams, Sill, Glass, Vitale... Not really any support what so ever.

This is where I question putting Farnham in for the Flyers game. With him and Downie in the lineup, we are certainly going to end up in a cheapshotting/bloodbath kind of game. While that is very entertaining, that plays to the Flyer's strengths, not the Penguins.
- YouMeAndDupuis9

How does that play to the current Flyers' strengths? This team is ridiculously soft. This is no longer the 70s/80s/90s, or even the 2012 Flyers.

I was responding to someone saying their point production was similar. I know Goc is better defensively, but Sutter is a better offensive player.

Trolling or serious? Girardi is slightly above average and Klien is having a good year. I'll take the Pens D over the Rangers. Now your goaltending on the other hand... Gimme that

Not by much though. Considering the amount of time he has spent playing top six this season he has been very dissapointing.

I can certainly see another bottom 6 forward fitting in. Adams is still on the roster. Next year, it's likely at least one of Downie, Comeau, or Goc get a better deal elsewhere...plus Dupuis may not be back. Not sure whether or not we can count on Kap or Sundqvist next year....I see a reason to bring in an established bottom 6er.

Not that Klink was anything super special but I'd be happy with the roster if he was still here.

Rangers have had a top 5 defense in the league for close to half a decade now. You're high.

IF this turns into a bloodbath (it won't), you guys will walk all over us. Who on this Flyers team, aside from Rinaldo, is suited to play that kind of game? Name 3 players on the Flyers who play that "dirty, bloodbath" type of hockey.

Agreed 100000%. There is absolutely no need for another winger. Once healthy, we are the deepest we've been in years. Another top 6 winger doesn't fit in our roster. A bottom 9 doesn't fit. The only replaceable part is Adams and it's not worth trying to replace it by giving up assets when we have people to replace him, but most likely won't. We are already bare on draft picks to give up and VERY scarce on offense in the minors. "But we have defensive depth to trade for offense!" we need those defenders to replace Hoff/Martin potentially. As well with Maattas injury and issues. It's all fun to build an all star NHL 15 roster but you have to look at it realistically for the present, and future.

The Penguins off their game are about 3 times better than the Flyers at their best.

I'm guessing you have not watched nor paid much attention to the Flyers over the past few months, They are terrible defensively, they have no forecheck, they are soft, Mason is out, Emery is awful...they're just terrible. There is 0 reason for the Penguins to lose this game. If they do, they should all be demoted to the AHL immediately.

Have you not followed Dupuis after his last injury? A lot of us were questioning his ability to return to full form, myself included. He looked great here this season. If anyone is going to return, AGAIN, without slowing down, it would be him. He also isn't returning from an injury that was a muscle issue or bone break, hes resting and doing cardio. Just can't take contact until May (depending on how he recovers timeline wise).

So what you're saying is you can't do it? I don't blame you, because it's impossible. I'm not all for a team of goons, but this team is beyond soft.
