They are a well oiled machine. Lose Datsyuk. Move Zetterberg to centre and play Jurco more. Weiss dead. Play Sheahan and Helm more. Abdelkader injured. Move Andersson up a line. Oh no Howard and The Monster are down, we're fuuuu...oh hey how about that Czech All-Star 22 year old we have in the AHL? Our defense needs a change, should we pick Ouellet? Or Marchenko? Or maybe Sproul? (frank) we need scoring, maybe we should promote our Finnish 23 year old AHL leading scorer?
It's (frank)ing ridiculous. - AdamFrench
Their management team is amazing, they always end up signing their players at cap friendly deals too.
Never bet against Detroit has been my motto for the past 15 years. |

....or you could say they're lucky they lost those 9 OT games, because if they lost in regulation, they'd be sitting in 9th place |

they had a bit of luck as well...they wouldn't have waited that long to draft Datsyuk and Zetterberg if they knew they were going to be that good.

Yet here they are doing it again...name me another team pulling this bullpoop? Tatar is on pace for 35+ goals. Nyquist 30+. If they keep (frank)ing doing it, can you call it complete luck? |

You could say the same thing of any players not picked in the first round. |

Yeah, they surely did not know they would be that good, but still, they could wait if they knew they were the only team scouting them. |

Should be 3 points for a regular time win,
2 for overtime win
1 for overtime loss - Fredobface
should be 2 pts for a win, 0 for a loss.

No offense stinger, as you usually have smart and insightful comments, but that one above is (frank)ing dumb.
No one knows how good these players will become before drafting them...but the wings get consistent value with all their picks...meaning they are definitely doing something right... |

Exactly, sometimes you end up with more players you want if you pick strategically..... can burn ya though. |

NHL prefers tighter races, right down to the last day of the season.
It will not change... good for marketing - especially in smaller / not traditional markets that don't have the money to build a top team, but appear to be playoff contenders.
And for Leaf fans. |

No one knows, that's right...so kind of proving my point. They had no idea.
If I was sure a guy could become a 80-90 pts player in the NHL, I would surely not wait in the 6th round to pick him because I'd be afraid some other team would pick that guy before me. If you think otherwise, you are the one who's (frank)ing dumb. |

I don't know...I doubt it showcasing, who would want him...they probably wanted to see what they had in him at the NHL level...can't really say he played poorly, but nothing special there. Habs don't need another midget. |
