I don't think Montreal had that problem with Patrick Roy, but you have a point. This market gravitates towards likability far more than greatness, which is a shame.

It is a shame, but to a point.

I can live with a little douchiness, but when you're a total DB, it's tough for me to get past. I don't care how great you are.

Hasek was clearly the best goalie to ever play, but he had/has so many character flaws, it's tough to separate the off-ice from the on-ice.

Just my opinion.

As a Sabres fan, though, I will watch the ceremony and try to enjoy the highlights they show.

we will get some sort of garbage goal
can I get a line on giving up 3 shorties?

- hubie

Buffalo will score on a rebound. Mrazek plays a very aggressive style.

Yeah, I don't want to date the guy, just show my appreciation for his work on the ice.

He's probably a grade-a class 1 douchebag. I really don't care for the next 6 hours.

"I have wanted Myers out for the last couple years, he just lumbers around the ice 80% of the time he is out there. Everyone is using stats to talk about the guy, how about just watching the games. He plays hard maybe 5 of those minutes he logs and is constantly getting beat to or at the puck, is out of position leaving guys by the crease open, and rarely gets a puck out unless the other team is outside the blue line.

I get why people like him who casually watch or look at box scores but he just doesn't show up on the ice."

Like I said, big time players have big time personalities. It just goes with the territory.

Side note: I was unable to sell my tickets, and really can't find a taker at the last minute. If anyone wants tickets in 307, message me. I'll take offers, but at this point, I may just give them away. They're print tickets though, so you have to have access to a computer.

I had moved by the time he had begun his playing time in Buffalo, so I know nothing of the stories of him being a DB as you say.

Didn't he start a charity with $1M of his own money?

All these folks that call him a douchebag go by second and third hand stories. He was greatan gave us lots of amazing memories to talk about. All this other stuff is just unfounded gossip. Who here had a real douchebag experience themselves with Hasek and it is just not some urban legend that was passed on him? So he wanted to be on a winner? The Rigas boys were to busy building private golf courses for themselves rather than helping this team get better so Hasek would want to stat.

Yes. I believe it was called "Goalies fight Buffalo News columnists" or something like that.
It was a wonderful cause.

Haseks Heroes. My daughter was involved with it when he started it .

Everyone is a douche now and then. just cause he is in the spotlight doesn't mean he isn't any different than anyone else. What would happen if the press followed some of us for a week.

Didn't he take some college girl in Canada to dinner, and then try to get grope-y with her afterwards? I thought the story was she slapped him.

They met on some computer thing: Cinder or something like that.

I was fortunate enough to be there that night. Unforgettable in every way. From the disallowed goals to I believe both Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas being at the game until well into overtime. I'll never forget it.
