I think , we are on our way . No way we even make the playoffs next year . Year after yes . Building for long term here . Pittsburgh and Chicago were not a success overnight either.

We still need a goalie
Enroth & Neuvirth are both UFA, and even if we were to bring one back, idk if either are any better than an average goalie.
IMO, that's an issue that will need to be addressed at some point.
ESP since all of our goalie prospects are having down seasons for the most part

Draper didn't start a game until 11/5/92
http://www.hockey-referen...d/drapeto01/gamelog/1993/

Puppa's 1st game started was 10/10/92
http://www.hockey-referen...p/puppada01/gamelog/1993/

Fuhr's 1st Buffalo start was 2/3/93
http://www.hockey-referen.../f/fuhrgr01/gamelog/1993/

Hasek started the 1st game of the season 10/8/92

my guess is it was sometime after 11-4-92 (draper's first start)

Some prospects will bust, some will greatly exceed expectations. It's a two way street. It's why it's beneficial to have so many quality prospects.

Ask Tampa if they thought Tyler Johnson was going to be this good, or Nikita Kucherov

So they waive Hasek and then have him start Nov 13, 14, 17, 18, 20, 21, and 25?

I don't see it.

On 8/7/92 ``Hasek will be given the opportunity to be the No. 1 goalie,`` said Sabres General Manager Gerry Meehan. ``We`ve liked Hasek for a long time. We`ve been trying to get the trade done since February or March.``

I wish TSN didn't change their site.

Their transactions list for players was second to none even on retired players.

You people need to chill.

You are too used to watching Mike Weber and Patrick Kaleta. It's sad to see people get excited over Varone.

Just wait until you see Reinhart and McDavid or Eichel here, or wait until Joel Armia or Grigorenko are ready

I have no doubt the second-4th lines will be good

it's the first line and special teams that will determine the future of this team

- homiedclown

Fair enough...
But I think many of our prospect have 1st line potential
Idk if we need 3 "superstars" on the top line
Most recent cup winners have 1 guy you'd consider a superstar on their top line

We have over 20 prospects that grade out as top9 guys... And most of them top6... I think we will be more than ok
Adding a guy like McDavid or Eichel to anchor all that depth we should have should give us one heck of a forward group
McDavid/Eichel
Reinhart
Girgensons
If that's our future top3 centers we're gonna be in really good shape IMO

It doesn't as Draper was the 3rd wheel. He was in Rochester for 5 games that season and dealt with injuries.

IMO if it were true, a bigger deal would have been made in years past about it. Not saying RJ isn't right, just saying why 22ish years later is this the 1st time it's popped up?

Foligno has a shot at a future 3rd-4th line role. But I wouldn't be shocked to see him part of a package either

Hmmm...
I still don't know that a tandem like that will lead us very far
Playoffs possibly, cup doubtful
I'd really like us to trade for a top goalie propect or young nhl goalie like Gibson

Grigorenko will be signing his 2nd pro contract and he hasn't shown much. Armia we are still waiting to see what he is going to bring. Many of us have seen young talent on the Sabres Gare was a player when he was 18, Mogilny, Housley, Andreychuk, even Vanek produced at 20-21 so we didn't just get off the turnip truck.

Personally I think we can make a big improvement next season.

Make a trade for a legit top 6 LW.
Bring up Pysyk/McCabe
Armia will be full time
Grigorenko will be full time
McDavid could be here

also at some point 2 for 1 trades need to go out, as they can only have so many sabres under contract

Grigorenko starts next year with the big club unless they feel they can sneak him through waivers.

He's waiver eligible next year.

This season might be a make or brake year with this organization.

Difference is this isn't the environment for a 20 year old to produce

They need to be insulated, the more talent that's here the more they can bring them along slowly

If Vanek was 20 on today's Sabres he isn't scoring 20 plus as a rookie

he wouldn't score 20 this season if the sabres were able to extend him
