I don't get why you care so much what my feelings are of him? It's fine if you care to overlook them. I can't. That's me.

I can't stand the guy. Can't revel in his awesome accomplishments when his obvious character flaws were on display time and time again.

Again. Just me. Best goalie ever? Probably. But, I choose not to lick his sac and add to the hero worship of a guy who was a fantastic athlete, but questionable human being. And no, I wasn't there. It's been highly and widely publicised what he's done.

Same goes for Mike Vick. And ask Rob Ray what he thinks of Phil Housley.

Third time, Max. Just MY feelings toward Hasek.

I'm not now, nor have I, shoved my opinion of Hasek down your - or anybody's - throat.

- grand-magus

Who licked his sack . Let it go . No matter how much a douche he was it does not take away how great he was on the ice. The number was raised for what he did on the ice . Because he was a douche in your eyes it should not be raised? Like I keep asking were you directly effected by his off Ice douchebaggery ?

Other than reinhart, and maybe armia and girgensons, none of those guys are projected to be first line players let alone elite scorers. We need top line talent. If we dradt hanifin something has to give.
- zdp1189

We don't need 3 elite players on the top line though. Ennis on the wing with Reinhart would work on the first line, add girgs/armia there you go. Take one or two of those guys on the 2nd line after that with grigs and maybe add one of baptiste/bailey/lemieux
fill in 3rd line with whats left from that and compher/fasching. More then enough offense and we still have two first and second round picks to work with.

they are on pace to tank for the 2016 draft as well

looks like a winger will probably be taken first at that draft

I think there's a lot of ppl on here that think if we get McDavid or Eichel we will be instant playoff contenders...
I think we will most likely draft in the top5 again
It's gonna take a couple years before we really become contenders. We do have A LOT of young talent, but it's gonna take time for us to get all these guys into the lineup... And it'll take time for them to grow into consistent NHLers

Let it go, he is free to have his own beliefs and express them here since that is what this board is for. For us to express opinions, whether they are in unity or not.

Yeah, the problems up front. Its not like theyre snake bitten, they just arent that good. Which puts extra pressure on the d.
- rover16

it's not just problems up front

it's hockey 101 and the sabres are failing big time

passing
forechecking
faceoffs
clearing the front of the net
effort
stupid penalties
brutal special team
team speed
poor shot selection
no effort to fight for a loose puck
and brutal special teams

anything but the hardest working team in the nhl

and rochester sucks

a top 3 pick and prospects will not fix this mess

I think , we are on our way . No way we even make the playoffs next year . Year after yes . Building for long term here . Pittsburgh and Chicago were not a success overnight either.

I sneaked out to the jeep to hear a bit of the game on the radio

RJ said the sabres had put Hasek on waivers before he became a beast. All I can say is wow.

Well, maybe during this offseason a big trade is made for a cornerstone young veteran, skilled top 6 forward is traded for similar to the Drury trade to help add to all the young talent and hopefully top 2 pick.

Here we go, come to his rescue Gil. By the way do you think his number should not go up because of being a douchebag of the ice? Tired of charachter assasination after the fact . I could care less if he was a douchebag all these years after he is gone. I enjoyed watching him on the ice.

I'd like to think that winning a major sports championship is about hard work and excellence in athletics. What you're essentially saying is that winning a Stanley cup is really just "hey look at us, we were unwatchable 10 years ago". I'd like to think the cup represents more than that.

When did they waive him?

He was traded for on 8/7/92

Starts 10/8/92

Detroit waived Osgood to make room for Hasek but I can find zero about Buffalo waiving him.

didn't they have draper to start the season with hasek and puppa?

my guess, just a guess is draper was going to be the only other goalie with puppa/fuhr in 1992

This season you may feel it is unwatchable. As more of the kids come along next year it should get better. I will take one unwatchable season for 7 - 10 very watchable ones. Seems like a fair trade to me. Sorry you don't feel that way . Tired of just missing the playoffs and first round exits . Willing to try something different

I'm not coming to his rescue, he was just fine I just don't think you understand the concept of differing opinions.

moving forward we have 2 knowns IMO

Girgens and Ennis are second line NHL players on really good teams

That leaves 4 spots open up front and if we assume reinhart becomes a known, we have 3 spots left and 1 filled with our first rd pick

everything else regarding prospects is nothing more then hype that as a buffalo fan, I need to see to believe

- homiedclown

I agree. It seems alot of fans think that al of our prospects are going to hit high on their potential. I just dont see it.

I don't disagree with any of this...
But we have so many well rated prospects I find it hard to imagine that enough of them wouldn't work out to give us a really good top9

I'm not saying we need three elite players. As homie said on a cup team Ennis and Girgensons make up the second line. We have very limited, potential top 3 players.

I agree and some of the people evaluating the talent on Hf boards, one place where the Sabres prospect talent is #1, are truly amateur writers.

I see second and third line talent potential in these kids but they could also end up being another Branislav Fabry, Michael Tessier, Jiri Novotny, Artem Kryukov, Barrett Heisten etc

Tsygurov Dicaire and Persson in the blue line

Fuhr's 1st Buffalo start was 2/3/93

I have no doubt the second-4th lines will be good

it's the first line and special teams that will determine the future of this team
