What would it take to get him?
- hscesq

I'll say a middling prospect, a fourth round pick, and a conditional second round pick (if the Habs make it the ECF).

So, call it Christian Thomas, a fourth and a conditional second. That kind of package.

Or a second and a conditional third.

The point is, it wouldn't cost much. The upside is well worth it.

Zbynek Michalek in Emelin out
- Fredobface

how random is that?
Michalek is steady, but really, he's just a better skating Mike Weaver.

Jagr = Kovalev Version 3 (Vanek obviously Version 2)
- Atreides

Vanek isn't in that conversation. Not between Jagr and Kovalev.

Bigger.

That is the problem with the D Eric, Emelin and Gilbert cannot provide steady D. We need a true reliable guy on the third pair.

Michalek isn't the same player any more.

Christian Thomas isn't a middling prospect. he's a minor leaguer. middling prospect would be a guy like Reway, Thrower or Lehkonnen.

True.

I'd go for a better Partner for PK.

Yandle.

That would move Markov down the 2nd line and Markov would stabilize whatever partner he'd be playing with... and that would move Gonchar down also on the 3rd pair.

Can't say I have seen him play much lately but at 32 he may have some good hockey left in him.

Dany Dubé seems to think highly of him.

Methot yes, would fit well with PK or Beaulieu! Also yes to Jagr, the window is open time to take the bus and give it a try.

Do you think Bergevin will be tempted to keep his assets since he didn't get much out of the last draft? He has been known so far to keep his picks and use the draft more than using trades to build.

Thrower yes, Lehkonnen maybe, Reway no.

I like the little Reway too much to trade him for a one season rental.

We all want Yandle but no one is willing to pay Arizona price right now.

How exactly will Jagr fix the PP?

NJ devils are middle of the pact on the PP and Jagr has 7 points this season with the man advantage.

7 points ranks him tied for 100th in the NHL in points on the PP.

Does this really change things?

legit question.

he doesn't get as much time as he would here, and different personnel. Cammalleri plays right half-wall, which pushes Jagr left or to the other unit.

Other reason:

Gonchar-Jagr.

Subban-Markov-Jagr.

And everything I wrote in the blog about the half-wall, and what's missing there.

He hasn't been afraid to move players so far. Vanek, Parenteau, Weise, Tokarski, Gonchar.

Why?
Two years ago he went for two AHL lifers and a conditional second round pick (if Boston made ECF).

Why would he be worth as much or more than that now?

He's not.
