Look at shots on goal.
We have been tracking this for decades and it probably doesn't tell a much different story than Corsi or Fenwick.

There is nothing "advanced" about advanced stats. People just decided to dice the numbers and call it "possession".

It is especially hilarious when they start comparing numbers to within 1/10th of a percent... Like these advanced statisticians don't understand significant digits and margins of error. I guess using tenths of a percent makes people think it is more accurate.

It would be like me saying that "generally speaking, guys under 200 lbs. are quicker than guys over 200 lbs." That fact might well be true over a large sample size.

But... when I then turn around and measure the weight of the rosters, and start rating how fast teams are on that basis... Yeah, it's meaningless.
