I know this is late, but although I get there's only one ultimate goal... I don't understand how making the playoffs isn't awesome.

As a Senators fan, I have very fond memories of a number of playoff moments, and gut-wrenching memories of tough losses to a lot of teams, the Leafs especially, these past few years.

Coming from a fan of a team that's about to miss the playoffs for consecutive years for the first time since the 90s, I miss that. The excitement, the adrenaline of playoff OT, all the fans cheering and waving towels like idiots. There are very few regular season games as memorable as any of the Montreal-Ottawa series a couple years back... Or the Buffalo series back in the day... Or even the time Pascal Leclaire played well.

I know everyone either wants to win the Cup or be picking 1st overall, but if I'm one of the 28 teams that's not in that position, I'd much rather watch one that makes the Conference finals than a 23rd place also-ran.

I warned people they will come back down.. I was playing shinny with some guy during the wun streak. He got frustrated with me when i told him this team is obviously prone to collapses. He told me not thus year because of the depth. I said. Ok

i do think shanahan is good for the job. He was the prototypical team guy, go through a wall to win player. He must throw up watching the attitude and make up of this team after playing with probably the greatest team in the last 20 years the 2002 red wings. He won't settle for this..he at least knows there is a serious character issue in this dressing room

why would a rebuilding team like phoenix (arizona sounds weird) give up more future for a player you can't build around? they have the assets and cap space but it doesn't help them.
