They played better then the score indicated. Still stupid mistakes and goaltending costed them.

Leafs finished middle of the pack last year for goals, 14th, why would they suddenly be in the top 3 exactly? Because they changed their 4th line?

Nonis wants to be bold and get this team moving? Trade em. Just do it. He's so hard to watch....I actually focused on nothing but his play for a decent amount of time during the game and he does a whole lot of nothing in his own end. Waiting for the play to produce rather than forcing something to happen.

With respect to the game - there's going to be a learning curve. But some good things to take away from this loss (and we all knew they'd lose).

Outshot the Caps 33-26
Outhit the Caps 36-29
Won 36 faceoffs in comparison to 23
Had 6 Giveaways in comparison to 9

Like I mean, they did the things they needed to improve upon much better. So it's safe to say that Horachek needs 10+ games before we can say much.

We aren't bad enough for what you want. You want to tank? Be happy with a Barzal. Or a pipe dream..Dylan Strome. And if you really want to go to fantasy rainbow land...McDavid.

The best thing to do is to tank. And that could be said for 50 to 60 percent of the league but I just can't take the losing. It sucks.

The more we lose, the better chance I think the core will finally be gone and Babcock will be in charge (and Nonis will be out)

Think about it, what challenge could a guy who has won everything in North America and on the International stage be big enough? How about the chance to coach (and do some GM'ing) of the biggest franchise in the NHL and build it right from ground zero. You make the calls. You dictate how you would like this to be built. Add in Dubas, Shanny and the Hunter's, and you may actually have a team who knows what they are doing.

Plus the media would be too poop scared to act like morons with Babcock running the team. How do you shoot the Devil in the back? What if you miss?

It will be a joyous, peaceful time not listening to those muppets that have their own breakfast/rush hour show.

Edit: Plus the blank cheque would help.

Stupid mistakes come from loss of confidence and guys on edge right now. Plus, did you see what the lines were to start? Ya, that wasnt going to yield success. Horachek wants to put his stamp on this group so he'll experiment with lines, players, plays etc...but as just about everyone seemingly understands, this team will need more than just a coaching change if they don't want to miss playoffs. And it surely can't be at the cost of a young player...so they certainly have their hands full.
