You only need a team with 3 - 5 million in space. We'd certainly take a guy on with 3 - 5 million on his deal. Just a lot shorter term.
- Aaron_85

Dion for Lecavalier.

Lupul/Gards for Yandle.

Kessel for Josi/1st/2nd

Have to find someone to give a prospect or pick for Bozak.

Clarkson will always be a Leaf unless we find someone who will take him with us eating a million. Then it would still be worth it.

Franchise really needs the complete rebuild.

Get rid of these guys within the next week you could be looking at top 3 picks at the draft.

Nope.

He won the Calder for the 03-04 season.

He pooped the bed in 04-05.

And we picked him up the summer of 05.

There are rumours that Boston was just going to outright release him that summer, until Toronto made the offer for Rask.

Probably not true, but something else to through in Leafs fans' faces.

- Atomic Wedgie

Ah thanks.

He still holds the record for most wins as a Leaf though doesn't he?

Absolutely agree. It's time the Leafs start going for some homerun picks though. Take the risk. Go for it but if need be, let the kid develop!

My NHL Draft has the Leafs picking Brock Boeser. I didn't have to investigate where this kid came from.
- Woderwick

Haiti?

Venezuela?

Eritrea?

We need to get Mike Smith back as GM - then we all know where our next 40 picks are coming from: the Russian hinterland.

they have a crappy 1st pick with next to no prospects...we aren't taking any of their roster players unless it's couture and they wouldn't do that. Next

I'm surprised by the recent turn of events. How did we even start with the trading of Kessel? Is it really all his fault the team is what it is?

I would like to see other guys moved first and a real leader brought in to take the heat off him. Overpay. I don't care.

It's a stat with an asterisk, though.

Once you brought in the shootout, wins for goalies went up dramatically.

Sorry, slippery fingers.

Europe for the lockout.

Pooped the bed in 05-06 - and then we picked him up in the summer of 06.

Clarkson could not be moved, unless you were willing to eat salary AND take back a really, really bad contract.

Phaneuf could be moved easily.

- Atomic Wedgie

Phaneuf & Lupul to the Avs for Connar Bleackley and a first round draft pick. (take back bad contract and/or eat salary)

Kessel & Franson to Canucks for Jake Virtanen, Zack Kassian and a first round draft pick.

Finish out of the playoffs drafting 10th, 15th, 20th.

Draft Lawson Crouse, Jeremy Roy & Travis Konecny

Rebuild is on

Leafs fans need to decide (and by that, I really mean Leafs management):

Do we want to tank or rebuild?

If we want to rebuild, trading Kessel is foolish.

If we want to tank, trading Kessel is a good idea.

I have no problem with people here advocating either side, as long as it's for the right reasons.

Trading Kessel for older guys is just stupid.

I'm a huge Kessel fan, no need for him to go unless the organization says full rebuild. If they go in the direction he will obviously bring the most substantial return.

You asked for a contending team who had that cap space available. I provided one. Here's another though.

Ducks with 4.7 million in space.

Next year's first, Lindholm and that's where it starts.

Kings have 2.5 mil in space right now. Deals can be done with value.

That's 3 cotenders. Next objection on why his value is garbage?

Won't get even close to full value if they trade everyone now. Deals are worked on for months if not more.
