I like Kessel and all, but he does have the odd fault. I know you think its the teams fault...JVR/Bozak/Kessel were the hottest line in hockey for a good stretch, the personnel hasn't changed...what has?

I just dont see the point in blaming kessel for not being something he has never been... he is an elite scorer..does that as a top 5 in the NHL.. cant ask much more.. put him with some stronger Defensive players.. that should help... players like JVR, Bozak and Lupul are are terrible def. also ... doesnt matter how you mix those players.... they all suck at limiting shots

I am ok with trading kessel.. I dont expect we would ever get the value back
so its really only to tear it all down and go for mcdavid... I am game...just make it known we are rebuilding from scratch

yandle is good but not sure id put him up with keith, weber etc

hedman is finally coming into his own, this is his first great season if u ask me

I think Seabrook is the horse and Keith is their 100x better version of Gardiner.

Seabrook 2 years younger...same amount of games and points and is the defensive partner in that duo.

So riddle me this, the Ducks are a playoff team, and I'm not sure anyone would argue that.

Is it just that overall their D is better than ours? Because their best guy (Beauch) is not IMO better than our best guy (Phaneuf) and Franson is only slightly behind Vatanen in points.

Is it that their forward corps plays better defensively? I know Kesler won a Selke and Getzlaf is pretty well-rounded.

Or is it just that they have a legit #1 C to play alongside their elite goal scorer?

Beauchemin is way better with the puck, he slows things down a bit, speeds them up, he just was poop in TO, for some unknown reason, which led to the super low draft pick, along with Komi and several others underachieving...

Not totally blaming him, just seems you give him a free ride...it's the NHL you can't just be a goal scorer...Ovie is twice the player Kessel is and his team can't allow him to just play offence. ( Ovie does it, they don't make the playoffs ) The same goes for us, he's the highest paid on the team...he needs to play 200ft, like the rest of the elite talent in the NHL ( except maybe Ovie )

Is it a trick question, because we have listened to the entire (frank)in board for the past 4 years, go on about a true #1 D man and a #1 center. There aren't any to get, so it has to work by committee. We don't have a true #1 anything guy. We are not getting one.

This is my point, we can want, but unless we win the draft lottery, we will have no legit #1 anythings next year.

lots hate ppp..but the work is good imo..

we might have discovered a problem... management built a bad team... they havent surrounded Kessel with the right mix...

I don;t think they necessarily have to trade Kessel, but maybe send some of his favourite buddies elsewhere might get him more focussed....

I didn't and don't like the trade either. The fact is, it was not horrible, it is debateable that it was even a bad trade.

seguin doesn't concern me. He's very similar to kessel in that he brings purely one way offense.

However, after watching Hamilton for about 15 full games this year..he's an absolute stud. He'd be our top Dman this year no doubt and plays a great 2 way game.

No one really lost this trade and burke can't be blamed for making it. I wouldn't have made it personally but alot of trades end up worse than this one.
