The point is that Toews provides leadership, back checking, face-offs, and grit when he's not producing points.

Kessel provides nothing except negativity and scoring chances against.

- gravyface

that pretty much sums it up right there.

no.

"Magic" would be suggesting that any of our bad contracts could be traded for anything useful.

"Magic" would be pretending trading Kessel or Phaneuf makes us a better team.

You have to try to fix this mess.

we need Roger Roeper in here to tell it like it is and remind us how overrated Toews is

I dont remember Roberts ever having bad press. But i was younger then
- Lee Denault

Naw, a bit of "is he slumping", but he was so consistent they couldn't.... Guys on the Leafs are inconsistent, so taking heat should be expected...

Somebody can quote the actual stat, but it's something like Kessel is 4th in league scoring over the past four years.

In other words, Kessel is always producing points.

In fact, just the opposite.

The press protected him when he left Toronto - they never printed the real story he didn't re-sign with Toronto.

do share...what was the real story?

Pretty much.

Kessel is not the problem. Not even kind of.

i think the Leafs only have 6 players that another team would want, so good luck with that
- the_eye

Thanks for the info Eye. And here, in spite of what I wrote, I thought they could get real assets for all their bad contracts.

Just saying, you have to try to do these things to address the problems, which are Management, The Cap, and the Kessel/Phaneuf core who you can't trade for what they are worth right now.

sorry

let me rephrase

any team going into the playoffs looking to add that piece to the puzzle to win the cup (offense) would take kessel in a heart beat.

thats the exact type of player you'd want to add for a cup run. a sniper.

- Lucas Neilson

What would a return for Kessel look like? What teams would be able and willing to do this? I imagine the list is short.

What we need is a fcuking miracle like happened for the Raptors.

Sadly, I imagine that what we will get is

Horachek next coach
Franson gone for nothing, Reimer gone for nothing

No significant changes.

This place is moving quick today!

He's also fairly healthy. We could have Gaborik. Outstanding talent and skill but soft as butter.

That's partly due to Nonis not having any balls to make a trade with a little risk.

I give credit to Burke for recognizing some of his mistakes and moving them. Beauchemin back to Anaheim, Toskala and Blake traded for nothing. We wouldn't have Lupul or Gardiner.

I know you are kidding, but that is exactly the kind of derp that is going to be out there in Kessel trade speculation.

There is a lot similar to the Leafs and the Oilers, except the Oilers have a brighter future.
