I was praying for RC to be fired...its now happened...40 games to late imo ... but glad its happened... he may not be the issue.. we will see...but i highly doubt he was helping this team much more than any other coach could - senstroll
Its pretty set in stone to me the coach isnt the problem. We'll see |

I'm afraid you are changing your argument.
If you want to blow up the Leafs and tank, I'm on board. Let's do it. Connor McDavid, here we come.
But your argument is to trade Kessel because he makes too much, and his cap hit is indirectly hurting the team.
Which is false. - Atomic Wedgie

Give up on this year. They aren’t winning any cups and likely not even making the playoffs. This philosophy is necessary so that they...
Fix the cap. Get rid of as many of Bozak, Lupul, Clarkson, Robidas, Reimer as possible. The return is irrelevant. These contracts have to be moved even if you take back bad (but less or shorter) salary in return. Sadly you might not be able to give any of these guys away
Trade Franson at the deadline. Time to stop overpaying following a career year.
Re-sign Kadri.
Trade Gardiner and Komarov if “hockey deals” can be made.
Fix Phaneuf. Remove the C.
Fix Kessel. 1) Get rid of Bozak. 2) get a #1 C.
Center Options?
Richards or Lecavalier … for salary going back (Lupul?)
Thornton or Marleau … for salary and some assets going back, like a young D.
RoR? E. Staal? – Could maybe get these guys at a significant cost but without gutting the team.
Duchene/MacKinnon/RNH -You know it would cost our best pick(s) and our best young assets. Do the Leafs have ANY assets that could get this done? |

Leafs season ticket holders got to go to the front of the line.
After that, the ticket prices themselves (remember, you had to buy packages - which included all the round-robin games, for which you didn't get to see Canada) were so redonkulously high, Joe Six-Pack wasn't buying them.
It was corporate. - Atomic Wedgie
Just reading up on that now - but it seems like the number of seats offered up to season ticket holders was quite limited.

Players with significant minutes that have blocked fewer shots than Kessel:
Zack Kassian
Shawn Thornton
Rob Klinkhammer
Brad Malone
Jonathon Toews (2)
Linden Vey
Marian Gaborik
Thomas Vanek
Kyle Chipchurra
Tyler Toffoli - BINGO!
Toews is very surprising. |

In fact, just the opposite.
The press protected him when he left Toronto - they never printed the real story he didn't re-sign with Toronto. |

Said this yesterday on the Hab thread.
If Kess was playing with Toews, Hosssa, Sharp and Keith...I wonder if he would be a coach killer. - stormey
such a dumb term
Yzerman had 9 coaches in 22 seasons
5 by the time he was Kessels age
they almost trade him too |

our problem is bad defense and the forwards not helping out the D enough.
of course part of that is a bad coach with a bad system that wasnt tweaked what so ever.
the other issue is the constant in/out of players ...establish a core you want to stick with and stick with it...like Chicago.
Keith
Toews
Kane
Sharp
the rest is basically filler other than your odd guy like Saad, Seabrook who are above mid range...basically our Lupul/Polak
which is sad that Polak is our second best D... - Lucas Neilson
Seabrook is not your average D
The guy is top 10 in the world at his position....no?

Obviously garbage because he doesn't block enough shots. - BINGO!
The point is that Toews provides leadership, back checking, face-offs, and grit when he's not producing points.
Kessel provides nothing except negativity and scoring chances against. |

He was, and that was okay as an assistant, but when it came time to think on his feet and have to work on relationships with players that are starting to go sideways, he faltered big time. |

I'll take hack "journalists" for $500 Alex.
Oh its the daily double?
Who are Feshuk and Simmons? - Cfser
I love Kessel's reponse to his question "Did you hear what Ron Wilson said about you?"
If you didn't hear it he said "What do you expect from me?" Feshuck only got defensive. Didn't even have a real response. Like he was shocked he could be asked a question. |

I am not suggesting they tank for a pick. I am suggesting they don't hold on to assets that are costly so that they can make yet another futile attempt at squeezing into the playoffs, which will fail, again.
