Did corporate season ticket holders have access to the junior tournament tickets? Otherwise, it seemed like a radically different crowd.
- Canuckleafer

I can tell you with 100% certainty that the answer is yes. A very large amount of them.

I'm afraid you are changing your argument.

If you want to blow up the Leafs and tank, I'm on board. Let's do it. Connor McDavid, here we come.

But your argument is to trade Kessel because he makes too much, and his cap hit is indirectly hurting the team.

Which is false

any team would take kessel at his current rate of pay.

Here were canada jerseys in the first row. Few suits. It was a different crowd.

Though wedgie is right. Come playoff time that building is rocking

There's been quite a few reports of Kesler's douchebaggery in Vancouver - I wouldn't doubt it.
- Canuckleafer

not my point, my point is he's coming to conclusion from other peoples opinions

But having no cap space does hurt their chances of making a trade for a center that could help them. Any decent, veteran center who is available will have a hefty contract and may only be available as a salary dump... so we need to have room.

Burke made at least 2 good trades because he had the cap space to work with.

thats becuase he didnt (frank) himself like Nonis has.

I would of bet you my bank account last summer that changes would be made.... So would of a lot of people..

Im getting restless seeing the same faces of failure.

- Lee Denault

I was praying for RC to be fired...its now happened...40 games to late imo ... but glad its happened... he may not be the issue.. we will see...but i highly doubt he was helping this team much more than any other coach could

Leafs season ticket holders got to go to the front of the line.

After that, the ticket prices themselves (remember, you had to buy packages - which included all the round-robin games, for which you didn't get to see Canada) were so redonkulously high, Joe Six-Pack wasn't buying them.

It was corporate.

For sure - and to be honest, the atmosphere for the Canucks/Leaf game was really good as well. Best one I've seen at the ACC in a while.

sorry

let me rephrase

any team going into the playoffs looking to add that piece to the puzzle to win the cup (offense) would take kessel in a heart beat.

thats the exact type of player you'd want to add for a cup run. a sniper.

You know how players typically say they have some regret when a coach is fired and how it's ultimately their responsibility as players to perform?

Yeah, there was none of that when Muller was fired.

A couple players, when asked about Muller being fired, declined to comment at all.

Chad LaRose QUIT PLAYING HOCKEY ENTIRELY because of Kirk Muller. Also, he sucks, but mostly that first part. Didn't even go to his exit interview with the GM/Coach that season.

Kessel is a top end scoring talent.. period.. nobody can argue this.

but he isnt a core guy.. he is the type you line up with a core guy to augment his play.

can you imagine what kessel could do with a center like E Staal or Getzlaf?

it would be nuts.

This is absolutely correct.

For those of us old enough to remember the early 90s runs, Toronto was THE place to play hockey.

There was a 4X4 - I want to say it was a Ford - that actually had a "Felix Potvin Edition."

I poop you not - a Felix Potvin Edition to a truck. And people bought it.

I've always maintained this: the Leafs need to get good before they can get great. They need to win a couple of playoff series, and have the fans go ape-poop.

Then players will want to start playing here again.

- Atomic Wedgie

there's definitely truth to this....

however, even during those "good days"... the media hacks were always circling looking for something they could spin negatively.

Depends on the player and if the team is good, if a guy gives his all and plays well like some of the guys ion the 90's and early 2000's they are treated like royalty...

I dont remember Roberts ever having bad press. But i was younger then

I get what you are saying. Im not blaming him. IN fact, i heard a few different analysts yesterday use the 'kessel to kane comparison'. I've been using that for years with Phil. I'm just saying he's a bit of a douche. Lots of guys are. He's not the sole problem, but with the cap situation etc. unfortunately we can't add the leaders necessary. Hence, he is the problem indirectly.
- clark_griswold

How is it wasted cap space if he is getting paid to put the puck in the net? If was the PR guy, I could see it but he's not there to give good interviews

If the Leafs want cap space there's better options than Kessel. If they want to rebuild and get something good - great in return than Kessel would be a good option.

gold seat tickets for round robin were 65$ face value. the game I went to was mostly dads with their kids.
