if it were me.. i'd keep rielly, try to keep kadri (only traded if part of an upgrade), keep bernier, and nylander

the core SHOULD be moved.. the rest should be up for grabs

tear this (frank)ing shack down built on sand and build a proper house so to speak

- Dozzer

Agreed.

100%. Only I would add that it should be torn down and built by a new GM, a Shanny hire. Mark Hunter maybe.
- 1979AD

I would dearly love to see Dale Hunter coaching this hockey team.

I'd like to keep Phil too, but only if they find him what he needs. Take Phil for what he is and make him super productive by supporting him with the right pieces.
He's too good to abandon.

I agree, except I keep Reimer instead.

Yeah, he's the worse goalie, but Bernier could stand on his head and cost us valuable draft picks

- TheThrill

need to keep a good young goalie for when you get those draft picks

and reimer is the one who plays better when the pressure is off remember.

If you go full rebuild then he needs to go because of the return. He's my favorite player though so I'm torn.

would have had to if they did it right in the first place
- Dozzer

I know. The irony is that Burke comes in and says he's "not interested" in a 5-6 year re-build, and the end result of a half-assed job is ultimately a 7-9 year project to fix a botched re-tooling.

Re-build the rebuild!
- fifty__missions

Give me a break. It was never a rebuild. It was a retool

You never give up 1st rounders, let alone 2 of them, if you are truly rebuilding.

What Burke did was wrongly evaluate and attempt to retool this franchise

Rebuild.. pfft

max domi is going to have a hard time in the NHL.. he's small.. real small
- Dozzer

I think he very well could be the exception. Johnny Gudreau is also small, very small.

Domi seems like he can get shyt done. I like the kid alot.

What has he done? I'm sorry I'm just not an RNH fan, not the sized guy I'd want either.
- iTOLDu

Couple of Oiler fans wouldn't part with him for any combination of Leafs assets (we are talking about combination in the realm of possibility).

I understand their sentiment. It is so tough find that #1C that, I would likely have the same answer that they do.

Colorado has a little more depth, so maybe there is a possibility there?

WHAT?!

the one f'n player the leafs should keep.. the only one

- Dozzer

Yes.

Except they need a legit #1C more than they need Rielly.

They have depth at D. Nothing #1C potential at center, unless you think it is Nylander and I don't believe that will ever happen. He will be a winger.

Strikes me as a massive douche as well. The cpt. Morgan celly and tongue wagging poop

Will be lucky to be a Marchand type...at best...IMO.

Me too. But the truth is, we have been "re-tooling" since JFJ arrived. If anyone....ANYONE....had decided to actually re-build properly, we would be RIGHT NOW be seeing the fruits of that process.

yeah like AD and I were saying, I would have agreed until this year. RNH looks like he is on the verge of being one of the top centers in the league.

lets see how he does when he has to play against men and not teens

1: he wont have as much of a speed advantage

2: minor contact vs men will send his ass flying, unlike in junior

He's probably a tough kid, but at that size, that "toughness" is going to be tested every day.

I would say Marchand is a good ceiling for him. There would be nothing wrong with that, still pretty valuable.
