Hopefully in this order:
MacKinnon
Duchene
RNH - 1979AD
Before this year I would have agreed.
Now, for me, it is Mackinnon > RNH > Duchene.

If we bring in Mike Richards, then bozak has to be traded away to balance the caps - DougGilmour_93
That add a mil in cap space and then years on the cap.
If our cap has issues, why make it worse? |

I would be going after RNH, Duchene or MacKinnon and start with Rielly and begin adding.
There is probably nothing that we could offer to get any of those guys but just about anything should be up for grabs to get a #1 C. - Aetherial
HAVE to get a number 1 C. Some people on here saying its not needed right now.
I would love to meet these people. Seriously.
After goaltending it is the most important part of your team. |

retain salary and to be honest i dont think skinner is all he is cracked up to be... shed some salaries and you can arguably get some key pieces for him since he is only 22 as well - DougGilmour_93
Canes can only retain salary on one more contract. Peter Karmanos is not spending a couple million per season to pay someone not to play for the Canes.
If Skinner can be a consistent 25 goal scoring 50-60 point player, then he's fine.
For (frank)s sake he's only 22 years old and has already score 30+ goals in a season twice. |

Bozak won't balance that cap.
He would have to be part of what is going out though.
.. and I was not serious about our 1st for Mike Richards.

and the whole thing of kessel cant fetch us a #1C i find bullpoop. If teams like sanjose or colorado who have plenty of Centers, i would say a deal could be worked out, any team that has plenty of centers a deal could be worked out for sure |

I would say it also has to be someone who could be captain material.
Those are the most pressing needs on this team. Someone has to lead two-way play by example and they have to be good enough that Kessel buys in. |

just commenting on the previous comment, but i dont think mike richards is the solution nor is his term at this point. I wanted him before but realistically this team is all over the map. |

Nugent-Hopkins is a beast.
He's approaching that point in his game where he's almost undefendable some nights. Creates offense like crazy. |

I don't think we could get RNH.
I think even Rielly, Kadri and our 1st wouldn't do it even though most would agree that is a serious overpayment. |

I thought he looked like a future 90+ point player after his rookie season. He has so much damn skill and hockey sense so it really surprised me when he decided to do Richard all after that season. |

Im not convinced he would buy in. He likes to do what hes good at. Play offense score goals |

I don't mind that.
What I mind is that he is the best player, and I think the de facto leader of the team. Unfortunately, I think a lot of teammates follow his example, without his talent.
They need someone else to lead by a different example.

I think they kind of hoped that Clarkson could have brought some of that leadership and been a sort of "Detroit Era Todd Bertuzzi" type guy.
Never really happened. |

I agree. Unfortunately its hard to trade for those players. You draft them and wait 4 years...

I still think we should trade for Jagr for the rest of the season if we don't have to give up much
New practice drill could be try to strip Jagr of the puck, and hopefully get people to get a little better in our own zone. |

4 years?! Nonsense! According to my brother-in-law a 20 year is what he is. There's no developing left. It's sink or swim so all kids should be ready within 1 year of being drafted. All. |
