I have not been talking about trading Kessel except to say that he would fetch more than JVR.

Yesterday I said I wanted them to "fix" Kessel. You need a new captain, and you need to get rid of Bozak and probably JVR. You can't let it be "OK" that Kessel gets and does whatever the F he wants.

He's actually Louie's son.

Clarkson has been okay this season. He has improved over last season. When the team was doing better he was on pace for 20 goals. Not bad for the guy!

If i am the hurricanes, id try and trade both semin and skinner, tank the whole season to get either mcdavid or eichel, sign marc staal in the summer, then go from there

Can't trade Semin, and trading Skinner is just silly. He's only 22 and while he's sturggled a bit this year, he's still passed the 100 goal mark in his career.

You weren't talking about it but many were yesterday. You're right he'd fetch the best package on the team but so should any teams best player.

The only time you entertain moving Kessel is to fully rebuild/tank. You want a short contract in return (doesn't matter value) and some picks/prospects.

Otherwise you continue working around him as you suggested.

You say you wouldn't trade Rielly. What if Colorado came to you and offered Duchene for Rielly and Bozak, or MacKinnon for Rielly and Kadri?

Nobody is untouchable and you don't really even have to reach that far to find a decent deal you'd take for any of the Leafs.

retain salary and to be honest i dont think skinner is all he is cracked up to be... shed some salaries and you can arguably get some key pieces for him since he is only 22 as well

Well then yes i would do that, but if "WE" are offering players for players, then those are the guys i wouldnt offer up. I was putting some things through my head yesterday, seeing how edmonton wants to trade some of their core pieces like hall or nuge, what if we surrounded a deal regarding rielly or phaneuf in those deals?

Absolutely.

I don't think you get Edmonton to bite on a Nuge deal and I have no interest in Hall at the price he would command.

I would absoluely offer up Rielly for RNH. I would probably stop short of Rielly + Kadri, but I would definitely do Rielly + Bozak and if Edmonton wanted our 1st also, I would still consider it. ... I don't think the Leafs could accommodate the salary difference though.
