Exactly.
Blaming Kessel for not being a leader is like blaming Bozak for not being a true number 1 center. - stormey
I never said i blamed him for not being a leader. I just said he is a bit of a tool and not the best teammate. There are lots of guys like that in the NHL and it's not like he's a terrible teammate...but he is a terrible leader.
My comment was in response to someone saying 'he's just quiet'. |

This is absolutely correct.
For those of us old enough to remember the early 90s runs, Toronto was THE place to play hockey.
There was a 4X4 - I want to say it was a Ford - that actually had a "Felix Potvin Edition."
I poop you not - a Felix Potvin Edition to a truck. And people bought it.
I've always maintained this: the Leafs need to get good before they can get great. They need to win a couple of playoff series, and have the fans go ape-poop.
Then players will want to start playing here again. - Atomic Wedgie
Same with the raptors. Alot of crap about players not wanting to play in canada.... Well tgey do now. Why? Because they are racking up W's

I would think not but Melnak is a cheap owner and if it save them some $$$ it might be a yes. |

Were passed 5 years though.. Kessel has been here for what 6-7 years now? Same with Dion?
Its not working - Lee Denault
I agree that overpaying mediocre talent to surround kessel is not working.. but now the leafs are locked into bad contracts for players hitting 30 and will start to slide down ... this cant be undone easily

Sigh.
I'm going to try to explain this to you one more time, Clarkie, in the simplest form possible:
If you are trying to make a rum and coke, and you don't have any rum, you don't help your cause by pouring the coke down the drain.
Hang on to the coke. Go out and get yourself some rum.
If you can't understand that, I'm afraid I can't help you. - Atomic Wedgie
I get what you are saying. Im not blaming him. IN fact, i heard a few different analysts yesterday use the 'kessel to kane comparison'. I've been using that for years with Phil. I'm just saying he's a bit of a douche. Lots of guys are. He's not the sole problem, but with the cap situation etc. unfortunately we can't add the leaders necessary. Hence, he is the problem indirectly.

I've never heard any player say bad things about Kessel, with the exception of Jack "where did my money go" Johnson before he was drafted... |

Shanahan took over in the summer... I get that fans want changes... but havent we seen enough knee jerk moves and reactions to bad analyses or player evaluation?
if you didnt know righting this ship was a 3-5 year operation..you had your head in the sand - senstroll
3 years of collapses and flirting with a 4th. There is nothing 'knee jerk' about it |
